[HELP ME CHOOSE] Macbook Pro 2016 vs. Macbook Air 2016

Hey guys, I asked you few months ago if I should buy Macbook and buy one first time in my life, Macbook Pro 2012 model.

Now I want something better for out because this one is full of stuff like photos and documents and I want one for coffee and meetings.

Now new Macbooks are really expensive by my country standards so like new Pro 2016 cost 2000$ and Air 2016 like 1800$.

If someone owned some of these Macs, tell me if I should choose lighter Air or a slightly better Pro?

The 2016 models haven't yet been released (or even announced) so you should wait, next keynote is in a few days.

Then it depends what you want to do, if it's like you said only for meetings then a MacBook Air will be more than enough.

Well I use the MB Pro retina from work with 16 GB ram and would not go any lower than that. You know that Apple's are outdated the time they come out, so buying anything other than top specs will not get you a ton of power usage out of it. Ask yourself what you want to do it with it and whether portability is more important.

Also which MB pro 13, 15 or 17 "? I have 15 which is good for my purposes. Bought a 13" with the i7 16GB ram and SSD that should get a couple of year use. Don't forget that the new pros cannot be upgraded ith ram or the SSD so decide beforehand what you want or regret paying so much for nothing later on.

13" with the i7 16GB ram and SSD would be perfect for me.

I dont need a monster, I have this i5 at home but I need something to carry around so some Air 13" would be great

Yes, 8 or 16gb would be ideal for Photoshop, uploads and Multiple web applications.

I will probably choose pro retina 16gb but I'm waiting for new price for 2016 so we'll see.

I have 2 leneovos and I hate it, maybe someone had some good experience but I just hate windows laptops, and I loved them until I discovered Mac.

Mac never crushed when I worked on it, and windows crushed every day like 5 times.

What laptop did you use and crush windows 5 times a day??

I have Asus i7, 8GB ram, win 10, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, brand new 1.000$ and it works great.

That is true. If you buy windows laptop for 200$ and expect it won't crash from time to time, you must me crazy. Invest money in some decent specs and you are in heaven.

i5 3320m , 16gb ram / 256gb ssd + 500gb hdd
cost me ~$350 with all the upgrades I made to it and I can put it in a large pocket because of the size of it... Best keyboard on a laptop ever, and I run it plugged to 2 x 23' monitors and run all my bots/scrapers from it as well. Last time when It lagged/hung up? maybe a year ago when I had installed a shitloads of warez software and it fucked up , since a new reinstall not a single problem in the past year..
I have some macs in family as well , but they are just damn stupid if you want to do any real work on them!

Maybe if you had some cheap shit lenovo laptop from the super cheap range I can understand.. but the ones I'm talking about retailed for around ~$1400 when new...same price as your mac but they are in whole different league.
Oh and did I mention 17-19hours of battery life with the extended battery?

Don't just buy it because it has a damn apple on it, no1 cares what brand you use anymore...

I am by no means an Apple fan just have been using it from work but one thing I have to say: build quality has been far superior. Sure you ay for it but I have 3 laptops all fucked up, one display connection must be lose, other lenovo mainboard must have an issue, other is an asus i7 24 gb ram etc. where the charging port came off (after display was fixed under warranty already).
We have an old MB here from 2009, still working obviously battery does not hold much of a charge anymore but other than that just trackpad replaced under warranty nothing else.

Get the 13" I7 16 GB (obviously heavier than air but very compact and battery time for the power is good, i'd find 4 gb and all too crappy to use) and as much SSD as you may need as it cannot be easily upgraded (they use their own proprietary system here).
Use Vmware and you will be good. If you use excel a lot do it under vmware, mac excel sucks and cannot do large files. Lot of stuff that sucks on the mac as no right click to easily create files etc. so has it pros and cons for everybody. Having said that I never got a blue screen on the macs (or similar).

Pro for work...Air for travel.

If you are going to be using it more as a regular everyday machine go with the Pro. If you have a desktop and you want something for travel go with the Air. Depends on how much you will use it and where.

Really can't go wrong with either.

The Pro is great for travel as well, its very light only 4.5 pounds.

I have both the 15" Pro and the 13" Air - one is just under a year old, the other just over a year old.

I travel a lot, and the good battery life in the Air (a true 10-11hrs, even at a year old) and its very light weight make it great to travel with.
The 15" Pro I use around home, or 'locally' if I'm going out to a cafe or something - but it doesn't fly with me.
The extra two inches in screen size does make a big difference, and I miss it when I'm using the 13".

So, OP, either/or, really. It depends how you'll be using it - but from what you've said, the Air is probably perfect for you.

Just get the new Dell XPS 13 or 15 with the i5 or i7 6th gen model.

Apple products are so outdated that they are yet to release any laptop with skylake processors. Or if you want to still go with the apple just wait few more months for the 2016 models
