I guess that freedom 251 phone is one of the most successful large scale black hat methods.

-Make some average looking landing page.
-"Offer" smartphone with some budget hardware for $4
-Build hype by making people reserve their slots in order to be able to buy it
-"Launch" the product
-Get over million orders, collect money and say you are out, giving people hope it is still legit and that others will be able to buy it soon
-Profit and disappear with millions of dollars

I actually do not know how they even managed to get that amount of orders for a phone which does not exist. They changed 3 different designs of that phone 1 day before "launching". In some videos there is one phone represented as freedom 251, but it is actually some other more expensive device with a bit of white paint over the logo.

Overall, really poorly done, but since people are stupid, it was a huge success for creators.

That's how business is done brother. You have to be smart and you have to find stupid people. And make $$$. LOTS OF IT. Btw, Their factory was shut down.

I highly doubt that they ever had a factory. Just a rented office.They cleverly used entire media and make in india campaign.

All these terms are 'relative '. Blackhat doesn't need to be illegal

Btw Freedom 251 was even launched in the presence of ministers. I don't know how they manged to do that

No, blackhat does not mean semi-illegal either.
It's just disobeying the rules created by a system (like google).
Ranking in google using blackhat links does not make it illegal or semi-illegal either. Frauding people for money is totally different.

You know they cancelled all the pre-orders they had because everyone was saying it was a scam right? They are refunding the money... I love how people immediately make up their mind and don't read up on facts. IMO alot of ones personality is shown in such an occassion.

Paytm refunded the money to customers. Ringing bells said they will do cod. I bought and paid for three of those and got my refund. You can't say it's scam yet. Have faith (y)
