Newbies shouldn' be able to make new thread

Hello,

to stop spamming, begging, scam threads, I have a suggestion: newbies which have less than 15 posts shouldn't be able to make a new thread. They could post normally in threads of other members.

It would be a limitation like for the PMs.

There is a LOT of spams recently (or begging thread), and I report easily several threads a day.


Another solution: moderators give us the IP of the newbies who spam/beg for 5 dollars, we find them, we kill them and we put pictures of their dead bodies with a warning message on the forum. But I know that some people will say it's quite extreme.

There is well a limitation to send PMs. Why not a limitation to make new threads?

Forcing a rule like this would just spam the forum more with short meaningless posts to year old posts for new users to get to 15 posts as quickly as possible.

Perhaps, but there are already necro-bumps.

With this limitation, at least, there wouldn't be automated spams (or less).

1) They read the forum.

2) They use the search bar.

Most of the questions can be answered by reading old threads.

Besides, it would be only 15 posts, not 100 or 1,000 posts.

If they are really interested by the forum, they will stay. If they are not interested, they will go to the Warrior Forum where they can believe they are smart.

I'm sorry but i'm pretty sure BHW thought the current process through, who ever registers does not have bad intentions to spam, if they are not jackass's, they know not to. I like how it is setup now, like Adrian said, they need to ask questions, the beauty of this forum is that it teaches you when you are unsure.

I'm aware of this, but recently, it's really become ... chaos? Spam for:
- scams
- stupid affiliate programms
- black magic (yes, I saw it)
- chinese things (I believe it was chinese)
- PTC
- ...

And I don't talk about posts like "Please Mister, my father has anus cancer, my mother was trampled by a herd of elephants, my sister was raped by a sadistic dog. But I have another idea: there should be a section where newbies could post freely, without limitations. But their posts in this section wouldn't count (like in the lounge section) And the rest of the forum should be limited like I said: newbies don't make new threads until 15 posts, but can post in existing threads (and there, their posts count) .

It's an interesting suggestion - we should definitely look into it. Unfortunately, a lot of spammers use proxies so it'll be a challenge for you guys to hunt them down with geolocation.

I agree there has been a much larger wave of spam hitting the forums as of late. Maybe similar to the JV post limitation, certain forums can have the cap in place where as a sub like the Lounge obviously requires nothing. The mods already have their hands full policing this place so that could reduce some BS. Or at least act as a deterrent to newb spammers. *shrug*
