My question is - what do you guys use to recreate the site and another one - is there a way to recreate the forum as well? Would greatly appreciate your input on this one!

What do you mean? Are you trying to copy all the content from the old website in order to recreate the site? If you are not the owner of the old, non existing site and don't have the files, it won't be possible.

yes - one of your main priorities - try to maintain indentical urls and url hierarchy. gl

.. from the other side - it isn't about the domain, but the content.. especially in the case of forums - it will be all about the experience/skills of your community.

Well you could probably scrape wayback machine with a tool like this: https://github.com/hartator/wayback-machine-downloader

Then simply import the content to a new installation of your forum.

Unfortunately there's no way to recreate things like user logins and passwords, so you'll have to get people to register again.
