Google has announced it will use geolocation to make its ?right to be forgotten? policy in EU work, not only on its European subdomains but on its general Google.com domain as well.

While responding to European requests for certain search results removal in accordance with the ?right to be forgotten? law, Google would previously delist the entries in question only from its sub-domains within the EU, such as google.fr or google.co.uk. The delisted entries could still be found on Google.com. But now that loophole is closing.

Well it seems like the end of google as being the dominant search engine may be coming near if they are willing to back down instead of ignoring some bogus law.

I dont see how would this affect google in a big way, google has 0 competition.
The eu is trying to push a new search engine for europe since a couple of years now, even if they do it will die quickly as every 'IM' will be jumping on it and all search results will be some aff shit.
Just look at yahoo and bing which are the closest "competitors" and u can rank #1 whit pure gsa spam in 1 week

Bing has become a better quality search engine over google now.
 
I think leveraging both of these search engines is the best option. Bing does better for some demographics especially for paid search where the CPC is cheaper and the conversion rate tends to be higher. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out the effects this will have in the long term but for now it seems like Google is still dominating in this regard.
 
If they keep running their drone cars into people buses and sidewalks they will down down hard....lol

Come on man, you are smarter then this.

Google is worth more then half a TRILLION dollars, im sure they have the best of the best resources and advisers.

Im pretty confident they know whats best, if they could ignore the law they would.

A company in their position should also be running a private Intel agency so that they can make sure the lawmakers don't get out of hand.
 
Google has a lot of momentum... can't see them getting pushed out any time soon. No otherreal alternative.
