About Cookies - How do they work?

BLACK Hat World, Can we talk about Cookies here, or not?

I have noticed that if I have a direct link to vendors checkout page, my cookie is weak. Discovered this by looking at some of my competition, then clicking on MY OWN direct link to checkout and can see that my cookie is not sticking. (ie.. my affilate ID is not on the bottom of form)

So, it would seem as if the traditional hoplink to Vendors salespage takes precedence over my checkout cookie... WTF Clickbank.

Or else that visitor could have looked at another "review" ended up clicking your direct link; but the last "official salespage" affiliate gets credit?

I must be missing something because this makes little sense.. If we can't discuss this here, does anyone know where I can find more information about CB cookies?
