What exactly is it that you're looking to do though... honestly, if you want to rank websites IMO the GSA search engine ranker will be your best bet.
It churns out a LOT of links and providing you add a good list, some decent proxies and then use a good indexer you're golden.

Well generally speaking any tool will get your hands dirty that's for sure, although sometimes following the heard can be a bad thing.

Yep, listening to others can sometimes end in headaches. My personal preference is the GSA search engine ranker, breaker, private proxies and a good indexer. If you want fast rankings just churn and burn your sites and bank hard and fast, make sure to create copies at the same time, that way you're always winning even when penalized.
