Hi friends

Simple question: Will posting on a forum site help my page rank?

I belong to a professional industry related forum and i post regularly. Would it help to post a backlink in each comment to my personal webpage?

Not sure of backlinking rules these days.

Appreciate your constructive comments.

The last PR update was in December 2013. Since then, there were no toolbar pagerank updates

Don't do that. It is not the best backlinking method in the current scenario. Read around the forum and you will find more help on this.

Thanks buds.

Why do backlinks from specific "relevant" keywords get penalized? (doesnt seem to make sense).

yes forum posting with links are good method to promote your site and also get good traffic.

I would keep it in your profile or signature, but try not to go crazy on contextual links unless you're mostly looking for traffic from that particular forum.
