Hi Everyone,

I do not really understand one thing about competition for keywords.
In general competition is defined as "the number of advertisers worldwide bidding on each keyword relative to all keywords across Google. In the "Competition" column, you can see whether the competition for a keyword idea is low, medium, or high."

Does not it mean competition for advertisers, not for websites aiming to rank for that keyword?
For example I am checking "xyz recipe" keyword, which has low competition with 8100 avg. monthly searches and CPC $1.19. Then I check SERPs and as you guess there are big authority websites at the top. To me there is a high competition out there as website owner.

bump once. any explanation?

you have been member for 7 years? :o:eek2:

Anyways, the competition shown in adwords is only for advertisers and not for SERP.
You have to analyze top 10 results, their backlinks, DA, PA and all.
Just use the search button, there are awesome guides on keyword research around.

Good luck

Yeah I have been but not very active here. I have a fucking job, working 12 hrs a day. Almost no time left for IM.
I am asking it because almost all guides mentioning competition but I do not understand its role for us.

If you are talking about competition in keyword planner, ignore it. This is for PPC not organic results.

Well, Adwords Planer just gives you some idea about the traffic volume and what you can earn, not how easy it might be to rank those keywords.

Best case there would be a tool, but then: if someone got such a tool that provides infinite amount of traffic y share it? Or sell it and maybe reduce your longterm revenue.

One of the main reasons I never went into standalone micro 4-pagers or such and more on an editorial site and trying to being lucky for chosing the title and meta descriptions.

But if there is a reliable tool, working not only in english language but also german, send me a message and I'm more then willing to give it a shot.

thanks guys. got the idea.

main reason for asking this, here and there everyone points out that low competition, especially BST sellers as I guessed and you explained this means nothing. important thing is to analyze first page websites. yeah it is not that easy.
