I haven't really had the luxury to spend more than a couple of dollars at a time when working with Facebook, but I've had extremely poor results whenever trying to promote a page, or application. None of the "clicks" that I get have any value, and are usually fake accounts, or accounts that mimic a click-farm. There's tons of reports on the internet that you can find about Facebook advertising being a total scam, but at the same time I've seen people on this forum have tremendous success using Facebook advertising.
A little about what I'm wanting to do:
Believe it or not, with this project I'm not trying to make any money (YET), instead I'm trying to create a following and a brand for my online schooling website. Everything on the website is provided for free, granted the user signs in. The main thing I'm trying to do is get some people enrolled to get the ball rolling. I have numerous courses in my niche that are carefully laid out, and a hand-tailored website for displaying the courses, allowing user interaction, and keeping track of where you're at in the course. What I'm currently trying to do is get some type of social following for the website, that will not only go through the videos to learn, but also wait for new releases. The following that I'm after includes: (In the importance order)
However, obviously having people sign up to the website is also in my priority, but they will do that through my videos, more than likely as they become unlisted and require you to view them on the website. The website also has login through Facebook and Google+, but I don't really feel like implementing Twitter login as I don't know anyone that has ever used it.
I'm curious as to what would be the most cost effective, considering Facebook seems to mostly just steal your money, Ad-words seems like the better option, but it's also much more expensive per interaction. Wanting some information from someone a little more experienced in the field. The last thing I want is for my Facebook page to be buried with Fake Clicks which causes me to never be able to get any vision on my posts due to limited interaction.
