Expired domains question

I found expired domains with good DA/PA. But, on the web archive I found that this domain was redirected to some other website in the last 2 years before expiration. Is this domain good for PBN or not? All other characteristics are OK.

As long as it still has the inbound links I don't see why it would not be good. I would go for it as long as the domain it was 301'd to wasn't complete garbage.

No, domain where it is redirected is regular.

Any reason for that? Did you have bad experience with expired redirected domains?

If your concerned then test it on surrogate site. Create a PBN from it, or rebirth it, then send a link from it to a random site that's somewhere on the second page in the niche you want to use it for.

Make sure you send an anchor text link closely associated with the keyword you typed to find the surrogate site. If the surrogate site's rankings go up for that keyword, say from position 17 to position 14, then it's a strong indicator that it's a good site/domain to get a link from.

A proper test would last a month to see how the rankings stabilize as rankings may go up initially for that keyword and then crash again (toxic link), and the opposite may happen where rankings go down initially and then go up again around the 20-30 day mark. (that's the transition / random documents algorithm working)

If it was a regular 301, I would get it. The only 301s I avoid are unrelated clearly done by SEOs ones.

If archive.org "saved page" redirect you somewhere, there might have been some manipulation during age of domain that means many stats/domain authority might been spoofed.

Check if domain isn't banned/sandboxed and check MOZ if it doesn't have high SPAM SCORE.

If you have paid Domaintools account, check whois history if it wasn't owned by someone having hundreds of domains with "high domin authority" without obvious source of this authroity.

If the price is good for the back link profile it has, I would take a chance on it.

I've bought domains like that before without a problem.

There is no reason to avoid such domains. Unless they were obviously redirected for seo purposes. These may and mostly have a manual penalty. I tend to come across many domains from business websites which simply migrated to a new domain and these are okay.Also... I would not put too much emphasis on PA DA metrics. You will get burned with those unless you do a thorough manual analysis.

Yeah, like most people here; an expired domain with active inbound links is theoretical good for PBN use but most of the time the redirect is a bad sign. I do avoid those domains

I consider domains that redirect only to a related website but of course you still need to check if the redirected domain is spammed or abused.

I wouldn't buy a domain that is redirecting to any website. I wouldn't want a dependency like that on my PBN at any point in time, If I am thinking long term.

Depends on where it was redirected, was it a SEO redirect or just a company redirecting other TLDs to its main website.

I wouldn't personally be concerned with something like that unless you know the domain has been penalized or
been used for spam. The easiest thing to do whenever you suspect or are worried about things like that is to test
the site in question.

You can set up the site and add unique content to it and set it up like a money site or pbn and then you can add GWT
and see if you get any messages there. You can 301 it to another site and see if the site drops. I do that with sape and
if the site drops you know it's a bad site and if it pushes the site up then you can change the redirection or in this case
take it off and just use it as a pbn or money site.

How to check is deleted domain banned or sandboxed? In MOZ it has spam score 0/17, so it is clear. If it was deleted before 1 or 2 years, how to know will it be indexed again?

If it has good, no spammy metrics then why not.
