How to monetise an ecom website?

Argh i knew i would be getting burned. So no monetising? Btw the reason i dont have access to adsense is not because of this website. Its just that im stucked on the approval stage on a web that was typed wrongly.

Depending on what you sell you can show related ads for sites that compliment your goods.
There are many ad networks and affiliate networks out there, look for ones that specialise in your niche BUT this should be secondary to selling your own goods.

An ecommerce site means you have products to sell, you should be trying to keep people on the site to buy your products.
Once you start showing ads, it is an opportunity for people to leave. The profit you make from selling your products should outweigh the pennies you would get from showing ads.
Your focus should be on getting targeted traffic to your site, this you could do by advertising on other sites.

This forum is sure going down hill. From people who come here ( bhw) asking for the best SEO site while they already arrived, to ppl who ask how to monetize an ecommerce site.

You don't sell KFC in McDonalds, that analogy applies to this.

It's possible of course. A good example is this. You sell a pen with 30% margin but u can't sell it for some reason. amazon sells it too, you use amazon affiliate to sell the same thing on your ecommerce site for 3% commission. However, your cust loyalty ( if any ) is with Amazon now, not your site anymore.

Yes, I do sell products on the site. Why cant you guys actually just be easy on someone who is new to the forum? You should at least be more welcoming instead of being so doubtful. I come here in peace.

I understand what they are trying to say and if they just leave it at that. I just don't get what they are trying to imply by shooting at newbies in a forum. Maybe it could be the history of new users spamming the forum and whatnot.

I am just asking a simple question that might have been phrased wrongly, so let me rephrase it:

Is it okay if I monetise an ecom site? Any other Adsense alternatives that might work with an ecom?

Simple answer is you may "monetize" your ecom site with anything you wish. Period. You may put Adsense, or any Adsense alternative too. Only thing is, when some prospective customers come to your site and they click those ads, then you lose that visitor may be forever, BECAUSE Adsense will take away your visitor to its (Adsense's) own advertiser's site. Adsense might pay you a cent or two as a token of thanks D) for the valuable (to Adsense) clicking prospective customer (You had somehow brought him to your site but you made him click the adsense advertisement).

So you're the person to blame for losing the prospective customer to google. Why get emotional on us? lol

We are telling you the simple thing that getting a prospective customer to your site through SEO, etc, is a difficult thing in itself. So why lose him to Adsense or its alternative for some cents, while if you don't have those Adsense etc, then the visitor can / may read what you have to offer, and he/she might just buy one of those things that you're selling for profit.

By putting your products/services for sale on your e-com site is same as monetizing that site.

Meaning of Monetize: To convert (an asset) into cash, as by selling the asset (on your ecom site).

So that (selling product/service) is a lot better alternative to using Adsense/Adsense alternative, etc.

GETTING IT Now? If not, then please explain to us what you mean exactly by having/creating a ecom site -- for what purpose do you want to create a ecom site?

If you still want to put Adsense, then go ahead and do it. I would say Good Luck to you and to your site. People have earned millions thru Adsense anyway, so you might be an addition to that exclusive lot some day, so why not?!!
