I want to host a wordpress page, which allows outside connections where Plugins can do API fetches or that an Plugin can work with an outside connection.
I worked lately with bPlaced (http://www.bplaced.net) but they wont allow PHP & curL without paid upgrades (the rest of bplaced is perfect).
I know you should pay for hosting, however this website I'm working on doesn't really need much (some contents/texts and thats it) and that's why I'm looking for a free alternative since this website is not going to be monetized.
I was working with BIZ too (http://www.biz.nf/) however their connection is verrrryyyy slow (takes like 10seconds for the website to load).
So, since I'm looking here for an free alternative and maybe there is someone out there who has it, please share it with me ;)

Conditions for hoster:
- no ads
- fast&reliable
- outside connections

Thank you :)

Hosting is so cheap these days.. just get a budget package somewhere. If you can't miss 10 dollar for a year, it's maybe not worth to put the website online at all?

Well maybe someone knows a free solution, gl with the search :)

If you want to go for free, then Freehostia is a decent option. Their hosting speed is decent, but you can't use SMTP.

With SMTP what do you mean? ( As far as i know SMTP is related to e-mail?)

I've used both Hostinger and Freehostia in the past. For free hosting, they're not bad.

If I remember correctly, you're just not able to send out emails with Freehostia because they've disabled SMTP for their free hosting.

You can't really rely on free hosts as they charge you nothing. They can do anything they like.

Including moving your website to a different server without alerting you first. This happened to me with Freehostia several times.

You can't get quality for free. What you can do is take advantage of the 1cent hosting at hostgator just for the month. If you want a coupon code, I can give you one.

Bump. Hostinger was really good after a week test, however they have some shitty "CPU LIMIT EXCEEDED" which brings you to the hostinger frontpage and gives this message which is a nogo. Maybe lowering Bandwith from 100GB to 10GB would be alright, but that? NO!

Going to try out now Freehostia, and hope to find something decent there.

Still, if anybody has some hosting sites to share with me, let me know ;)

There's another one called Awardspace, but I only used them briefly.

For how long?
What about speed and uptimes and all that stuff?
About a week.

I had an issue with their hosting (I think it was the server speed and something to do with Wordpress), although this was about 2 years ago.

Hm... Yeah, i moved now back from hostinger to bPlaced, since freehostia made problems to upload the duplicated version of wordpress(duplicator).

It's a little bit frustrating, that i don't find anything similar to bPlaced with php and curL :/

Let me guess, the file size limitations of Freehostia caused problems?

Have you considered just using a host like HostWinds? You can pay $5 for 1 month to start.

Don't think so, i uploaded a 80MB big file size, however the extraction of it caused the limit.

5$/month is more expensive than bPlaced's pro plan...
