Unfortunately it is.. mostly caused of the very "strict" and strange rules of Instagram ..

Grats to you! I'm not saying you can't make money please read carefully , all I'm trying to say is that there are faster ways to get money.
I made good money as well, it's just that I would've surely made more and faster with other niches..

I've seen far too many "newbies" trying to grow in this niche and always making the same mistakes. It's not as easy as it looks like.

some of you points are on spot, however i found 2 which cannot be more far from the truth, you said that adult content is hard to find and hard to monetize, in fact to the contrary:
- it's one of the easiest to find adult content out of all contents, who said that you can only scrape from ig? there are so many adult content available where ever you go on the net, quality too, can it paid or free, have you ever heard that the 40% of the internet traffic/content is porn? now you maybe don't put porn on ig, but you'll find just enough content in the sexy niche too
- also it's one of the easiest to monetize adult content, ig or not, i'm not sure how exactly you came to the direct opposite conclusion

I've dipped my toe in this niche before. I din't really know what I was doing. I managed to make $10 in ads the first month by just mass uploading videos to popular sites. Yes some videos were removed but a majority of them were still up. Then the second month earnings dropped off cause I started to get poor traffic. I just dropped the project after that.

Oh sorry that's not what I really meant to say, I've probably explained it really bad.

What I meant to say is that is SUPER easy to find adult material, is just that if you want a good account with good engagement you can't just take random pictures. What I meant to say is that regardless the fact that Porn is everywhere it's hard to find material that people won't just skip. Indeed why would anybody come to check your account when he can find 10 times better by just googling.

For the monetization it's easy with shoutouts etc.. is a bit harder to find the right Network that doesn't ban adult niche.
What I meant is that is harder than other niches, because in those there aren't any limits. You can sell shoutouts as well as working with CPI.

I didn't mean to say that it's harder to cash out, it's just harder to find the right way.

I'd have to agree that adult is saturated and hard to get going. Definitely not a starting point unless you know what you're doing or get lucky with it.

The riskier things you post the more followers you will get but as you said, it's a double edged sword.

That's exact! One of the most important rules (which can be applied to all the niches) is to never be too greedy. You need to wait and never try to exceed. It's kinda like gambling, never bet more than what you would afford to lose. You might get lucky sometimes, but I've seen many accounts with near 1mil followers getting perma banned.
