What goes into a good writing portfolio?

Very moot point - I have my own opinions and will post as and when (rather than drone); overall however, would like to ask your guys' opinions on this matter.

There are varying portfolios to suit different occasions, this is true - however, as a baseline standard writers portfolio, what do you have in yours? - content editors, what do you expect to see in yours? and to those who use Copywriters/Content Writers, what do you look for in a portfolio?
 
I look for related articles that I need. You should have Clickbank related, Amazon related, Adsense related, press release, etc.

Remember that there are a lot of people needing content for different purposes. Maybe for their PBNs? Maybe for their authority sites? Whatever you can offer to the table, show it. Also, tip, I hate when people send me samples of 200-400 words. I want to see that you can write thorough articles about specific topics.

I hope this was to any help, it comes from someone who have hired more than 10 content writers for different purposes. :)

I guess this is the thing - proving that you can do what you say you can do.

I have a number of different portfolios to suit different needs and requirements at each given time - what I find generally confusing though is whether
