I am starting this thread to have you follow me through one of my more "optimistic", less practical projects. This is by no means something I'm devoting all my energy in. Its one of those things that IF it works I'll make a killing, but at the same time I need to make sure I have a steady income with some of my other, more reliable methods.
The Plan:
Buy a domain/hosting. Raise $1M through various methods:
- Sell advertising space (done,retired)
- CPA offers(in progress)
- Shoutouts on social media(in the process of building an audience)
- GoFundMe campaign (Set up, no funding as of Jan 26/2016)
- Sell the site (1 private offer, $50 000- declined)
The site isn't content driven per se. Its more of a viral e-begging idea in a way. Not exactly begging, because the site does provide value to individuals which can utilize the traffic it is currently receiving. No SEO done, no promotions(except one email), etc. All organic traffic through word of mouth, and an email sent out to friends and colleagues which has been spread around. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link, but thats the best I can explain it.
Progress:
Spent-
$12.96 domain/hosting- had some credit on my account.
Earned-
$230.85 adsense (paid out)--> account is now banned for illegal clicks

Nor a good strategy if you're thinking long-term. To be honest - set your goals lower. I assume that by 1M you mean $1.000.000 and not the often coined mile (1.000) in cost per view advertising.
