Hi All,

I was wondering if there are any safety issues when using an iPad for posting. Assume you set the used FL proxy on your iPad with port 80, is there any possibility that the iPad is leaving a footprint? I'm not an IT engineer, so I don't know if all the traffic from the IG app is going through port 80.

often mentioned here is to turn off wifi and use data on your phone, which i have tried a few times.

If your using the data on your apple device the only footprint that your are leaving is your device ID. Which you can switch by going into settings on your device and "erasing all content & settings". So with this information you know you're not really leaving any real big footprints.

You can just not use a proxy, and use your home ip address, and log in device using home ip and post.

The official Instagram client ignores iOS proxy settings for some types of TCP connections. So when you post they get 2 IPs, one is real, the second is proxy. I know this for sure, because I've decompiled the client. Almost every request to the IG is accompanied with a device ID. So they will se if you post from the same device. If it is going to be a problem or not depends on if you violate TOS or not.

This was indeed my concern. Just setting the proxy and port 80 is not enough to "mask". I will just post from my home IP/4G to make it less suspicious from now on.
