Question regarding linkjuice on money site

Hello guys,

I would appreciate if someone that has the real knowledge could give me some feedback on this question. I seem to look around the net but its difficult finding an exact answer to the question which sounds rather basic, but thats how it is in the life of a noob

#So to the question:
Should i forward all linkjuice to root on my money site and then link this juice out to the internal categories of choice or should i just let it stay the way things are? I got this thought when comparing my webstore with competitors and I saw that i did not have some links (using Majestric Clique Hunter), when i infact did have those links. Its only because I typed in root domain rather then www. So am i missing out on linkjuice due to this?

Yes you can,but i think does this flows better?I suggest link with sites like Wikipedia and your money-site,this type of link juice work better IMO.

If I read this right, you're asking this because you saw different number of links for the root domain ( domain.com ) and the www version ( http://www.domain.com ) ? In that case, it's best to use the one with the most number of good links and setup a redirect to that version from the other one.

Yes, it's wise to redirect link juice to your home page and from there back to your category/other pages you want to have maximum ranking strength.

I wouldn't point all the links to the root domain - it just doesn't look natural. Point some to the inner pages as well.

Whenever you build a link it should point to the exact page URL (eg; http://www.example.com/) - note the forward slash at the end. If you're building links to an incorrect version of your page URL, then your technically building links that point to a 301, which then redirects to the correct URL address. Do you lose link juice - yes. How much - no one truly knows - but it's not very much, especially when the 301 is on the same domain.


Is it worth worrying about - not really, but that depends on where the link is from. If you had a red hot inbound link, then you'd want to make sure it was actually pointing to a valid page URL and not a 301.


Would I fix all of those links in your circumstance, not really, as long as your www (or non www) version of your site was redirecting properly then your still getting virtually all of that link juice to your domain. And most strong natural sites only have about 50% of their inbound links going to the homepage, the rest are spread across internal pages. Hope that helps.

You should build links to both your root and individual pages BUT your www. Should redirect to your non www. or the other way around (which is how I prefer it, with the www.)

I'm sure you can do it with an actual redirect but I have hosting accounts with all the big hosts and you go to your domain management in the control panel and this is an option there, just check a box or turn it on. Then site.com automatically redirects to www.site.com, and in the future also build all your links to www.site.com instead of just site.com to be safe (never know if redirects will pass a lot less juice after an update, right now it's not a noticeable difference with an onsite redirect like this but Google is unpredictable). But please also link to inner pages, such as www.site.com/article-page just add the www. As well!

Ive already did that part I now realised, but i will strongly follow you guys advices when it comes to the linking structure.

I feel stupid creating yet another thread so may i ask if i should be concerned about websites such as:

invitepeopleDOTcom domainstatsDOTio etc ? Im trying to copy competitors linkprofiles and when checking Majestic many of the sites has 0 TF/CF, can i disregard these entirely?

My plan to become #1 in my market is to focus mainly on PBNs, and some alternatives such as Web.2.0 but also copy the competitors link to the extend that i can.

They sound low quality for sure some sort of stats sites he probably used a tool that visited a bunch and submitted his link to be checked which then generated a page. you're probably better off adding some high quality web 2.0s with that time to diversify from just PBNs a bit. I do often copy competitors links but only when they're nice authority sites I didn't know before (or that I knew but wasn't yet using on this campaign).

Thanks, thats what I thought so, nice to get it confirmed. I am suprised that its hard to find stealth PBN links, i mean even though they might block out Majestic SEO, Google, Ahrefs etc.. how can they block out all the thousands of services from all countries that does the same?

There must be some tool the best SEOers are using to check competitors backlinks thats been hidden, else its impossible to do anything at all.

Majestic, Ahrefs, Moz and those don't come close to crawling as deep as Google does. As far as thousands of services from all countries, there really aren't any. There's no clear path of editorial links from the authority sites they start on to an artificially built PBN. Google has just always shown a tiny fraction of backlinks. Yahoo SiteExplorer used to be awesome but shit happens.

How would Google know you are blocking those?

If you block via robots.txt anyone can know that, but if you block them via .htaccess they cant see the file, and i doubt they'll use user agents from majestic to recheck.

Since i got this thread rolling with some heavy names contributing i might as well ask these 2 q.

1. Right now im mapping out my competition, so im wondering if the PR ranking still is the nr 1 method you guys are using (dont give a crap about what all the blogs write) besides checking backlink profile etc? (despite PR not being updated in the front anymore)

I just get a feeling that Majestic should simply be used to spamcheck domains since the TF isnt really that accurate at assessing the real strenght of a domain, the TF/CF is more of a spam ratio at the end of the day I feel.


2. Finding PBNs especially for domains that has less then 100 domains or so pointing to them isnt that difficult. I mean they can block out all the bots they want, but they cannot block out Google!. Google is simply God in this case in lack of better terms and its easy to just Scrape the website backlinks from Google with 100-200 different keyword terms and quickly find the strongest sites powering competitor #1, #2 #3 etc?

Im either getting creative at this or im lost in space pick n choose ^^

EDIT: I quickly realised that even though this can work, you can easily avoid it by just skipping your own money site name to be mentioned. Write a text and use a anchor that is not tighed to the money wise itself. Damn..

When you found stealthy PBNs thats powering your competitors websites, whats the best way to sort them out and assess them. These PBNs do not always follow traditional DA/PA/TF/CF etc, should one focus on OBL or is there any other method of approach to assess how strong one domain is?

For example many other webstores being listed on the same PBN blog makes it weaker, any advices would be appreciated.
