Ask Me Anything about selling on eBay

What would bbe the repercussions for offering 2 day handling time instead of 1 day handling time and 3-5 day shipping instead of 2 day shipping? Would it prevent me becoming a power seller?

I recommend it actually, especially for beginners. You will never get to be a top rated seller (20% discount on eBay fees) but it does not stop you from being a powerseller. Also, a lot less hassles since no one complains about their package coming too soon.

1. Find Amazon Prime products and filter them by price and categories.
2. Auto list to eBay with full product descriptions, images, identifiers like EAN and MPN.
3. Take full auto control over Amazon price fluctuations and stock quantity also auto end the listing when not in stock or when not Prime any more.

So basically you want some program that does everything for you except spending the profits. I'm sure such a program exists, but if I wrote such a program, why would I sell it to you, since I can make 100x more money by using it for myself? Why don't I just go the extra mile and make all the money?

Lol, so true.

If such an item was available it would probably be expensive. In which case our lazy guy, Harrison would probably complain saying it's too expensive. He would then post looking for one that is either free or near free, so he can make all the money.

Shake My Head!

What tools do you use to determine which items you should be selling?(do you follow hot product trends etc)

I have been quoted $20K for customized eBay software, and that is the low end. And it does not come with free trial.

Yea I guess that's true. I am working on a suite of tools that will take me a few months.

I do not require that many tools, as my main area of emphasis is fairly narrow and I can tell you pretty much right off the bat if you give me the technical spec, my cost, and pics whether I can sell it or not.

toml3030 i wanted to talk to you about a vehicle of mine that im getting ready to sell that will bring anywhere from $6,500 to $7,000 on a stealth account that has been selling items for slightly over 4 months now , has over $750 sales, with 112 transactions the account has not had any opened cases against it. the account has been a perfect little angel and even had its selling limits raised to 10,000/1000 selling limits

now what i wanted to ask you was when my paypal thats attached to my ebay account gets the $6,500 to $7,000 transaction put through it how will my paypal account handle a transaction that big on an account that is not new or old?
the account currently does not have any of the 21 day holds.

you might get hit with an immediate request to provide a tax ID if you haven't done so already. I think selling a car with paypal is a bad idea, because too many things can go wrong.

you really think i get the tax id/ssn request toml3030? i have had the account since september and with the new calendar year that rolled over it has all reset and you get to go to 200 items or $20,000 or if you get in range to be calculated over that limit or near it to get that tax/ssn request i am always careful with my selling to not get asked that.

now lets say i was selling a watch or jewelry and my paypal account thats attached to my ebay account gets the $6,500 to $7,000 transaction put through it how will my paypal account handle a transaction that big on an account that is not new or old? my paypal account is 100% verified and i have never had any probelms with anyone so far with my selling and such high selling limits

I would actually be surprised if you didn't get it. I just got one for account that I sold less than $2K in in 2015.

Hi Tom,

When accepting a return from a buyer on different stealth accounts, is it safe to use the same return address?

This had me wondering because if we consider ourself a shipping fulfillment like amazon, there a chance that many users are inputting the return address when accepting returns.

Whats your take on this?

Good question. I suggest you setup a PO Box for each stealth.

I do this and I have not had issues, but I am careful that the return address is not linked to a banned account.

I suspect that this is the reason why it's been reported in multiple forums that return addresses don't cause bans like registered address.

That's ideal but they can't ban every shipping address, as it would cause too many problems with people who legit drop ship items from the wholesaler/manufactuer and not just doing the arbitrage thing, people who live in building with doorman and return instructions are to drop it off at the lobby, and that many foreign buyers/sellers use private parcel service. They will always be a little more lenient with shipping addresses vs. address you use as the mailing address of record for the account. If you set up one PO box that's not used to sign up for an account and use that as the return address for multiple eBay accounts, I would make an educated guess that it would be safe as long as you don't engage in shady stuff.

hii sir. can i pm u for ask something about ebay?

you can ask most stuff on the thread, if it's specific question relating to your situation I don't mind answering if it doesn't involve 1. selling fake stuff, 2. doing things outside eBay TOS or 3. either of us getting naked

Nevertheless, in my opinion drop shipping is never as easy as people may seem to put it,

Nothing worth doing is easy in most cases. The beauty of a capitalist system is that if it was that easy, that niche would quickly be filled be copy cats competitors. That's why I wouldn't trust anyone selling "systems" vs "tools". If I had a auto pilot easy money making system, you'd have to pretty much kidnap and torture me to reveal my secrets, not be able to buy it off me for $99.

sometimes you may miss to do the calculations of margins well you find yourself on the loosing end, secondly a buyer may cancel the transaction and demand for a refund.

You have to see it as making an average x$ per sale, and be willing to take losses in some sales. If you try to not lose money in every single transaction, that's not a good long term strategy, imo.

Lol thats too hilarious. Im in the clear. To me, shady business is no good for long term security. It always falls through or something else bad happens and you end up back at step 1 like you pressed Reset on the Nintendo.

Thanks again for answering my questions, btw.

It still amazes me how many people try to sell obviously fake brand name stuff and get all upset that eBay and Paypal stole their money when they get shut down.
