I'm not attacking you with this post cause I like you & realistically you can be anyone. But joke or not thats exactly why we have so few females on this forum.
I've spoke to 5 females on BHW since I've been a member (which is pathetic). Through pm trying to help them.
And I have a few basic rules I follow cause I like keeping them around BHW.
1)
Never flirt with them.
2)
Never ask if they're female after you have 99 reasons to suspect they are one.
3)
Never ask for pics.
4)
Never show off in public in a way that'll confuse them when they ask very simple questions.
5)
Treat them with respect.
We need to put ourselves in the shoes of women who come to this forum. Most probably come here thinking someones gonna hack their shit. It's common to mistake BHW for a hacking forum. They see avatars with porn stars, half naked women, violence, demons, scary faces, scarface, guns, a few puppies here and there, etc. If they read enough posts they'll see the inflated egos, jokers, clowns, trolls, etc. This is the reason I removed the naked Miley Cyrus from my avatar.
Then
god fucking forbid they're semi-attractive and upload their real picture. Not too long ago I saw a smart and cute girl from the UK who was new here. She was asking questions about SEO. Immediately the thread blew up with like 30 posts in a matter of hours (just cause her pic).
Guys were trying to show off arguing with each other, giving her vague confusing or overcomplicated (useless) advice.
Guys were asking if she was a woman.
For her to upload pics.
I've seen other girls get asked for their number dozens of times like Kin Lee. Where the fuck is she now? Where's redrubies?
Anyway, I went out of my way to
not treat her like or even recognize her gender. I gave her brutally honest, specific advice. I didn't tell her what she wanted to hear I told her facts she needed to hear. Like how dumb it is to blast a local business with GSA if you're serious about ranking long term. I mentored her for a few weeks giving her solid SEO advice.
All I wanted was for HER to FEEL WELCOME on here. When I noticed she was logging out for days / weeks I'd ask how her rankings & traffic were. To keep her focused & on track. After doing this enough I noticed she started logging in more & more. Then eventually I thought "my job is done". I didn't have much time to mentor anymore and stopped.
She stuck around. Although not surprisingly she doesn't post threads anymore. I see her in the marketplace working on her site which is good. But unfortunately, based on the services she's using I doubt she'll be around long. Either way I did what I could to keep another female from leaving this forum.
I may sound like I'm boasting. But I really wish more guys could simply act like grown men and not fucking flirt with new female members EVERY TIME they come here.
I'm a pretty good looking dude. I'm not gonna say compliments are "annoying" but too much of that shit gets awkward real quick. It makes me uncomfortable. Especially at a place of business or a place I go to talk about business. And I'm not saying it's bad to clown around on here. That shits great. But a photo? Of some chick who lives across the world? That's not a joke, it's not funny, it's actually really annoying.
Again I don't wanna insult or attack you. But when you think or even suspect some stranger is sexualizing you in their mind, a stranger you don't know... that's creepy shit dude. There are MANY ways to joke with women that exclude you asking wtf they look like. Cause most aren't attention whores. They're not posting their photo so you can flirt with them or so other guys can make comments about what's wrong with their nose or w/e the fuck else would happen if some chick was crazy enough to do that on this forum.
All I'm saying... this isn't eharmony, timber, pof... it's BHW. I know I'm not the only one who wants to see more businesswomen on this forum. Some of the smartest, most creative business owners I've met are women. They're great at swallowing their egos, problem solving, thinking outside the box, having intellectual discussions... sometimes they just think in ways that men don't. Which is important for making money. And male dominated field or not there's 700,000+ members on this forum. I can't think of
1 single female, a
regular member who
regularly posts on here. There's something clearly not right about that.

all those fields just like this one is dominated by men, once i worked for a travel agency, all of my colleagues, trainees were girls/women, no surprise in that either, it was a fun time lol
