Update 1/12/16!​

I reached 1k+ followers in four days!

Alright, I'm so stubborn. Basically, I got another temporary block for following 1,000 users again. I'm going to actually cut it down to ~500-600 per day from now on.. or at least until I start seeing more organic growth.

Speaking of organic growth, I'm seeing little to none. Almost 100% of my followers are people I mass followed. While this kind of sucks, it's expected. I guess this is what I'll be seeing until my posts start to appear on the explore page. I honestly can't wait until I start gaining followers who are genuinely interested in what I post!

I'm currently following more than 3k, so I think I'll do some unfollowing tomorrow.

As far as likes go, I'm seeing around 100 likes per picture. Again, most of these are from people who are like-spamming the hashtags I use. For experimental purposes, I didn't use any hashtags on the latest picture I posted to see how many likes I'd get. So far, I've received 51.

Update 1/11/16!​

Today has been a very successful day in terms of follower gains.

That said, I want to discuss the usage of hashtags. On every picture I've uploaded since I created the account, I've commented about 15-20 hashtags that are related to the picture. I am noticing that I'm getting a nice number of likes on each picture, but the majority of them are from users that aren't following me. This tells me two things: 1) People are liking my pictures from the hashtag and not actually enjoying them, and 2) A lot of likes are from other botted accounts that are auto-liking hashtag-specific pictures. I think this is fine, though, because I will need many likes in order to eventually end up on the popular (or.. explore?) page.

I'm also worried, as I've stated previously, about the temporary blocks I've been receiving. I've been following pretty aggressively (~1000/day) for the past few days, and I've gotten "blocked" from following like three times. I'm not sure if more of these will lead to a permanent ban or if I'll just keep getting blocked with no other issues. I've heard both responses by a few people. I think I'm going to keep following the same amount per day but spread it out over a much longer period of time. We'll see what happens.

I'm thinking I will include the present follower count as well as the last four updates' follower counts every time I make an update. This will allow you all as well as me to easily see my progress thus far.

Only three days in, and I've already learned so much! Of course, I still have a long way to go. But I'm not stopping! OH.. AND! I'm absolutely loving all the feedback I've received, so keep it coming!

Not much to say today because there wasn't much that happened. I followed around 500-600 users. To be honest, I was soooo tempted to just keep following until I got a temporary block. But I resisted!

Okay, to clear things up about the bot I use:

I didn't code it or anything; my programming skills are not up to par. I was looking for a way to automate the following/unfollowing process. In the midst of lurking other Instagram journeys here on BHW, I came across http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/my-journey-discussions/810991-my-instagram-journey-1-million-followers.html. He revealed that he used Bluestacks to emulate an Android device. He used the Android app "Hiromacro" to record his touches and automate the processes. I fiddled around with this until I came up with a little recording that works for me. So that's what I do.

I hope this helps anyone trying to automate the following/unfollowing process!

I started a similar one some days ago( I recorded a macro combined with Bluestacks). Do you follow only public accounts or also privates one?
I think that can be one of the reasons of the temp bans, as you have to count not only the increase in the following count but also the pending requests.

I follow accounts regardless of whether or not they are public. And yeah, you might be right about the temporary blocks. That's an advantage that I would get with FollowLiker, but that will be in the future unfortunately.

Thank you! I don't really have any sort of strategy related to the amount of pictures I post per day. I just post one every few hours or so. I'd say, on average, I do about 5/day. If I'm getting a lot of likes, I might post more. It just depends honestly.

Update 1/14/16!​

Officially day 6, and I've surpassed 2k followers! I honestly didn't do any following today besides a little bit right after I posted the last update in the middle of the night. I also wasn't able to unfollow as much as I would've liked because of work.

This is what i do when doing a project,
I use social bots to get followers in my niche
i then get to a good amount around 100.000 then
throw a shoutout every 5 hours for a week then i
let the program find another 100.000 followeres then send another
shoutout for another week, and every 5 hours i do this untill i get to
a million users , then the fun starts on that niche....

Update 1/15/16!​

So, bad news. I received a week long follow block that will last until Thursday. Although this is a huge bummer, I will not be giving up. I'll use this time to unfollow the 4k+ users I'm currently following. I'll still post about five pictures daily, and I might test out mass-liking pictures under related hashtags. This is a time when I really wish I had FL to make things easier, but for now, doing everything manually is fine.

I'm currently receiving around 100-300 likes per picture. Is that a good amount? I'm not sure what to think, as I've seen other smaller accounts receive more likes per picture. Keep in mind that I am commenting about 20 niche-specific hashtags on each picture, so that brings in some likes as well.

I've thought about that, but a lot times CTAs make an account look super spammy and LQ. I've done a few "Tag your friends" kind of things, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

This will be the last update until my temporary follow block is lifted (Thursday, 1/21/16). I've decided to do this because there won't be much to update you all on at all. Since I won't be able to follow anyone, I won't receive any follows back. I will be liking pictures that are tagged with related hashtags, though.
