DMOZ Editors? Anyone have a hook-up?

I've been trying for a long time as well, and have come across a few things:

DMOZ editors are corrupt and they laugh at your submissions behind closed doors. If your site is not insanely popular and bursting with quality unique content, you have to bribe them to get in (seriously)

I have never done this, but I've heard from reputable sources that you first you need to send a category editor money via paypal using the same email you will be submitting your site with... I know, sounds retarded, but DMOZ is notorious for this kind of shit. How much $$$ is dependent on your category, and how much you are willing to pay (bribery is a tricky thing)..

If on the other hand, you had a really popular, quality site that would obviously make a good addition to DMOZ, you might ba able to get away with contacting the category editor and offering to give them some one-way inbound links.

Also, apparently after submission, some people report that they get seemingly random emails requesting them to link to some site in a related niche. This is most likely from the category editor and he/she is giving you the chance to bribe them, so throw as many backlinks from the site you just submitted as you can.

Myself, I am not willing to go through with all this crap to get accepted. If I get in one day so be it, if not, F**CK EM!

That's my take.

I submit all my WH sites (without bribe attached and without giving any links), but only a couple have gotten in. And one was obviously because some n00b editor just scraped Google's listings for that category's keywords, and put all the results in. Don't know why they did that, but I wasn't complaining.

There was a time a listing in DMOZ'd get a big SE boost, but it's not worth any bribe anymore. There was a little bump in the SEs when I got in, but nothing that couldn't be beaten with the kinds of linking methods on this forum. And direct traffic from DMOZ amounts to literally a hit or two/month.

As for it needing quality content, meh. I'm sure it depends on the category, but from what I've seen, the editors' idea of "quality" varies from "must be informative and unique" all the way down to "your site didn't show a 404 error, and all the other submissions I've seen today did." There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what gets in and what doesn't.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. I've been trying for a couple years now and I gave up. There are so many more sites with high PR that I have found that I can link to and do link to. Do a search on BHW and you will find a lot more sites to get a link from without wasting your time on dmoz.

I suspect you can find people who claim to be DMOZ editors and are willing to take your money at digital point, but that isnt quite the same thing....
