Still works great, when done right.

Add profile information, upload an avatar, create an abut me page, delete dummy content and make the sites look natural. Also post more than one article (I go with at least 5).

Then throw some backlinks at these sites and you will see results.

That. Web2.0 networks tend to work really good when you put in time to customize and build them out properly. Drip some posts, build some links over time - all it takes is 20-30% more effort than the usual setup of registering and posting links with content from day 1, since a lot of the work is done by tools, but for some reason most people just don't do it.

From what I have seen they are good IF you spend money on lots of original content... but they typically aren't going to do much damage against a highly competitive keyword. Secondly, they are harder to index these days.

SO they are "worth" doing, but lets not kid ourselves like they are as powerful/easy as they were 2-3 years ago.

What would you say the best tier 2 backlinks are for a new Web 2.0 network? A tiered GSA contextually campaign or more Web 2.0 blogs?
