So I have been running a Windows VPS with SharkServers for over a year, originally outside the UK but once UK was available Ben contacted me and moved me over to the UK. Yes - proactive customer service with a personal touch!!! So much different to chasing people to get even the simpliest things done and from this I've become a customer for life.

The box has always been responsive, I tend to use it for development though have used it to run a few services with no problems. When I've needed support Ben has been there and gone out of his way to help me.

I am planning big things for 2016, and SharkServers is the company I plan to use because they are solid.

My recommendation from my own personal experience over an extended period is to stop looking, and talk to Ben.

I'm planning to create a streaming website for a good Niche. No football or movies. I already have a nice fan base with Facebook. My videos are around 100Gb (500 Mb each one). Would it be possible to host everything on your servers? (both hosting and sharing) or what would you recommend?

Can I plan to earn on it? I'm starting from 15000 visits for sure, and I think they will increase a lot. I don't have a huge budget, I want to reinvest what I earn step by step

By default these are unmanaged. We don't believe management fits in the low price we charge for the servers - you can not provide reliable management if the staff that manages the servers are paid in peanuts, which is why management is available as an optional addon.

Would it be possible to switch from aurora server to aegis or alpha since they almost always have a very low load. Alternatively would switching to a vps help? I didn't notice until I checked, but the cheapest vps Is only 3$ more annually than my current plan so theirs little reason not to switch.

Sharkservers is great, though I have a problem. I have been getting "Error establishing database connection to server" the whole day. It happens time to time. I refresh and it's gone (very slow to refresh). I think it's a server related problem, I tried everything, achieved nothing. Also FTP doesn't work anymore

P.S. I'm on Aurora server too

UPDATE: They fixed it soon, an user was abusing the server and he got suspended

Although we do load balance shared hosting, switching to a VPS would definitely help.

We don't ban any IPs. If other people can view your site, but you can't, the issue is with your ISP, not our network. We can not do anything in this case as it's completely out of our control.

I'm paying around $10~ for a VPS that allows me to stream movies, so far its been very fast for my money, I honestly don't expect much for $10 a month.
However it has been a pleasant experience as I bought shared hosting for $10 and it was crap.

one thing that was odd was I was being ddos, this is not sharkservers fault at all, and was easily dealt with by using iptables, clouldflare and wordpress W3 cache.

I point it out because some users my experience slowness and blame it on shark servers instead of some random asshole

My quick SharkServers linux VPS review...

What I liked:

- Instant activation upon payment
- ZIPPY network speeds
- Reasonable pricing
- Never was an issue, but I like that they ignore DMCA

Room for improvement:

- Please offer a 1GB port. 100Mbit is very 1990's.
- DDoS protection options would be handy

Overall, very happy with these guys!!
