Hostwinds is bad - my honest review

There's nothing fishy about it at all. I've been with hostwinds for over 2 years, it took me ages to find a good host that was a reasonable price. There customer service is second to none. They have done all sorts for me that other hosting companies would say "oh sorry that would fall under our full server management service". I couldn't he happier with them. I run a level 7 premium vps if your curious.

But anyway, everyone is intitled to there own opinions.

Been no down time at all for me, apart from one time on shared hosting where someone was hogging the shit out of the server, even then within ten minutes of me alerting them the person was suspended.

Always had great support from them.

Yeah, you can easily outsource 24/7 support with guaranteed 15 minutes reply time easily. There is actually quite few companies doing this.

I've just paid Hostwinds for my second year of hosting. I can honestly say that they are without a doubt the best hosting company I've ever used. I'm referring to reliability, tech support and value for money. Siteground are good, yes, but their servers were much slower and I had a few problems with them. OP your issues seem to be isolated ones and possible due to the fact that you don't know how to maintain your own websites.
There's a lot of support for Hostwinds here so I think you're pretty much on your own with your fabricated shit!

cloudflare is crap and you don't expect premium protection even by their paid protection plans. if hostwinds is offering you prtotection in $100 then its better as some companies charge up to $500 per month for premium protection.
as Hostwinds just mention that you are getting 15GBPS of direct attack on your site, then even if you buy dedicated server your site will stay offline until your protect your website.

I agree with OP. I was using them for over 1 year. This were good in the beginning until their VPS started to go offline everyday. I upgraded to Level 2 yet the problem persist. Their support always told me to upgrade. So I stopped paying them and they suspended my VPS and account.

Now, I'm surprised to see that my CC was charged another $21.50 for a month subscription on a VPS that is already suspended! I can't even access my account because they banned me.

These people at Hostwinds are scams! This serves as a WARNING to those who intends to buy hosting service. Keep away from these crooks.

I have used many hosting services but when it comes to support hostwinds is very good , i have been part of them since 2 years and might extent it further. I might try other services as well but i love the support they provide.

My debit card had some funds just enough for the day then I was with my son this afternoon, son ask me to get some food to eat, we went thru a fastfood to order. I paid using the card 'coz I've got less cash on the pocket, then that awkward moment when the cashier told me that my card is declined b'coz of insufficient funds. We walked away. Imagine, my son was dissapointed.

I looked at my online bank account statement when we got home, then I was surprised that Hostwinds charged me off a VPS service which I no longer use, already suspended long time ago. Do you think that's okay?

*UPDATE - So I emailed them, I was angry. They agreed to refund the money. My case closed now with Hostwinds.

**LESSON LEARNED - Always request to delete CC or whatever payment details you have on file on a service provider when leaving.

I pay them using paypal and they never took any money from my account. I'd suggest to use paypal if you don't want them to take money from you CC or DC.

And for 100$ per month (plus 10$ that I already pay) I could get my DEDICATED server that won't get ddos because of somebody else getting ddos,so my website suffer. as soon as I transfered to siteground my website didn't go down never,and if somebody was ddosing my website I am very sure he would do it again on this different hosting as well.
But I got to many visitors later so I had to transer my website to server4you,I am now paying like 30$ per month,to host my website,but its much faster and I never experience any downfall what so ever.

Also I just now noticed that webhoston.com are SCAMMERS. Do not buy from them. There support is terrible,and they costed me two of my pbn domains that I paid a lot of money for.

Web host providers will pull your site very quick if you arent careful. Using cloudflare can help alot.

I have been using HW for some months. I see that Hostwinds support is really great, but there seem to be security issues with their hosting. My websites got virus and malware all the time. And sometime, it takes too long to receive my incoming emails.
