Hi forum,

I am relatively new to the whole SEO scene.

I have been running a successful business on eBay for a while and recently created my own website where I s3ll pre-owned clothing.

So far I have only went about promoting my website in the following ways:
  • Adwords - pay per click
  • Facebook page where I have ~2500 likes of which around 200 are genuine and others I got through like exchange website just to make the page look better
  • High quality photos of clothes, I keep all my product pages live, even the ones I already sold. I simply have "Out of stock" status on them. But I noticed I get a lot of clicks from Google Images because all my image names are very good such as "Mens Executive Ted Baker Shirt Photo 1"

I have not spent time on any other avenues of bringing in traffic.

Recently I have been thinking about creating some youtube videos which would have links to my websites. I was thinking about doing them no various Brands and their history ... a subject I am knowledgeable on. The format I was thinking to use was a slideshow with a voiceover to describe the given subject matter. Since the videos would not be spam and would be very informative to those who care about the given brand people will most likely watch them. However... to make the videos nice I would need to grab a lot of images from google search... obviously c0pyright matters come into play. I do not plan to monitize the Youtube channel with Adsense or anything else, I just want traffic from youtube to my website. Is this a good move?

Also I would really appreciate if anyone can give some good general advice on how i can use time most efficiently to promote my website and build traffic in a safe way.

I am not asking for a detailed guide. I just need some pointers in the right direction after which I can read forums and research on my own.

Any structured help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Anyone out there can please point me in the right direction to help me begin promoting my e-commerce site?

I find the youtube idea pretty good, but i would make it a little bit different. Instead of simply telling about brand history i would go into details like what makes this brand different, what is special about it or how can you spot fakes? or weekly vintage cloth advice with their history like actor x had this on in the movie Y.

I would also contact fashion bloggers and instagrammers for cooperations. Last year i was into fashion and had worked with bloggers together. It yielded great results.

I'm doing ecommerce . If you'r selling clothes then stick with Facebook Ads and Fanpage first :)

Specifically ads to get more likes or ads to get actual clicks to the website? Which work best?

Creating a online marketing strategy for eCommerce is huge.

As like simple, I would say.
1.Facebook Promotions is the right place to go, because you have been in clothing niche.
2.Find some coupon distribution site & publish your coupon codes.
3.Keep write content uniquely and publish it different place. Like your internal Blog & other relevant site.
4.Collect subscribers email ids and do email campaign. Keep connect with you audience will help you to make sales.
5.Last option would be the PPC, If you have a reasonable budget you can think of it.
6.. etc..

Very useful advice, thanks!

Any easy way to get celebrity photos to use in YouTube montages without getting into copyright trouble?

You need to do SEO too, which means come up with healthy keywords and rank them on Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Youtube channel where you model the clothing. Well maybe not you but get friends to do it and pay them in alcohol. Doesn't have to cost much for a camera and people on Fiver can create intro logos and stuff like that.

If you can find a funny / interesting angle on this (Research what your target demographic finds Interesting) then you'll rack up those views quickly and start driving some serious traffic to your site. I think the whole brand needs to be well thought out and executed too. Depends on your demographic but if it's youngsters then you pretty much have it made, GET ON YOUTUBE NOW!!!

Don't forget IG and Pinterest too. Possibly Tumblr too if what you're running is a bit hipsterish.
