Hi Guys! I hope you have a great day.

Currently I am in the process of building my first authority site/blog. I am confused about how should the template look like. There are plenty of themes and it's really hard for a newbie like me to choose the good one.

Are widgets, parallax, sliders, etc. helpfull in building an authority, or even the simplest site on TwentyEleven template will get the same conversions like for example Divi Theme?

What are your experiences? What is your definition of a perfect authority site? Lot of graphics with content, or "keep it simple" ?

Thanks :)

I use WordPress themes: iconic one and academica.

The look I feel that an authority should have is a clean minimal design and focus on the content. I opt for 1 or 2 colours on the template at most.

It should be SCENARIO-DRIVEN

People think in terms of stories and scenarios

If they can't QUICKLY and CLEARLY connect your content to their needs, then your materials won't be as credible...

Credibility is the foundation of AUTHORITY

For me, Quality content with good theme or graphic is the simple definition for authority sites

Add pages like "Privacy Policy', 'Disclaimer' 'About Us' . Make your site design unique as possible. Fresh and attractive content is also a good point.

Don't clutter your site with fancy graphics that are not needed. they just slow the site down.
Avoid animations, they look desperate and so 2000 ish.
Don't try and hard sell, build trust first.
Don't use popups when a visitor first reaches your site, it's annoying.
Use quality content, read and re-read before posting as articles that show mistakes will put people off.
Offer a newsletter and have exclusive content for it, but don't try and force people to join.
Don't keep asking people to share everything they read, they will if they want to

Try checking all the popular website and news publication websites. They spend thousands of dollar on layouts and designs, you can look at their and set something along that line.

Authority site looks like.
DA.70
PA.40
articles 300 plus
All policy, Privacy, clear cookie policy.
My press release site almost qualifies for this.although my da pa are near 30.

Where do you get your content for press releases from? Other authority sites?
Could I make an authority site even though I am not an expert, guru or ph.D in the field?
Would simply rewriting and spinning content from other authority websites and referencing to the source suffice?
Thank you in advance.

go for the cleanest looking, easiest to navigate layout. use breadcrumbs for navigation and have well chosen font types, professional graphics and photos.

Before you start work on your authority website you'll want to understand a few things about creating an authority site in general about web design,
brainstorming,
understanding your audience,
coming up with content,
developing trust,
getting traffic and then
finally monetizing your authority site.

unique and quality content simple design looks like attractive one
