Ask Me Anything about selling on eBay

Hello, i'm new here, but i still have some sales on eBay though. My question is, can you sell branded items for example some stickers, which have some famous company logo in it, for example like Red Bull? I can see people are selling lots of items, and eBay seems to not care.. Or am i wrong? And if i don't include straight the word Red Bull on my listing, is it still illegal? If i list the item's subject as following: ''Red sticker energy Bull''

I really appreciate if you would take your time and answer to me! I would like to have an advice on how to avoid getting in trouble if this isn't the right way

With regards stealth. If you're not operating an LLC/Corporation then how can you get access to the funds in a timely manner to pay your dropshipper?

1. I don't dropship. I inventory myself.

2. having or not having an LLC makes no difference to accessing funds

I mean, I can buy stealth PayPal/eBay accounts with no limits etc, but what is the trick to getting your hands on the cash in a speedy manner? What are the concerns/caveats I should be aware of with bank accounts.

99% of my sales are on accounts that have no holds, and only thing you have to make sure is that your bank will accept payments from paypal not addressed to you.[/QUOTE]

generally no. On eBay, if you own a brand, you can pretty much have total control of your brand other than the "first sale doctrine" (If you buy something for personal use, you are allowed to resell it) That means even if your product is 100% legal and approved by the company, if the company doesn't want its logo sold on eBay they can stop you.

generally eBay will go by laws and enforcement of the country where product is listed. So if someone lists something from another country, different rules my apply even if you're selling the same thing.

not allowed if you use the logo

Thanks man for great answers. I still have one question though. So did i understand right, i can avoid these problems by using a VPS to list items in a different country, for example VPS from China?

Guys, Thanks for your useful post. Your ten commandments of Running Stealth eBay Accounts attracted me. I wanted to know how we can easily start such service? and which things are needed for that?

No, to have chinese rules apply to you your account must be registered in china and merchandise should ship from China. Logging in from Chinese VPS while being in US will get you banned faster, actually.

Frankly this question has been answered a hundred times, so I suggest you do some research. You will learn a lot just by researching and not having the answers spoon fed to you.

The thing is, that i'm not actually from US, and my merchandise do ship from China. But if i now make a new account and register and put all details in China and use Chinese VPS always (also when registering this new account). When using this ebay account, will this method work then to avoid problems, or do i have to make also a stealth Paypal account and also put up Chinese information there?

This may solve the eBay problem, but you may have problems with Chinese authorities then in regards to non-trademark issues.

" only thing you have to make sure is that your bank will accept payments from paypal not addressed to you." Can you recommend a bank that will allow this?

Bank of America, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Citibank + several other regional banks I have not had any problems with. I keep the withdrawals under $800 at one time per account and I have not had any problems.

What is your dropshipping sitE?

I am not and will not ever recruit sellers here, because what I sell is high priced and low sellthrough so it is not what most people are looking for here and I do not want many people selling it. IMO, you should never, ever use drop shippers that constantly recruit sellers because that means either 1. they have a high burn rate of customers who don't make any money and quit and/or 2. you're going to have all these customers compete among themselves. That is death because that kills profit margin, as it becomes a contest of who can live with the least profit. Mostly I dropship for people with brick and mortar stores who carry my merchandise in their stores and several stand alone websites.

Awesome thread with useful info, i'm not into ebay except for basic personal buy/sell but maybe in future i'll give it a shot to build a business.

What's the approx cost of items you sell?
Is there a certain price range that people will more likely to buy from?
For example, a $20 product vs a $200 product?

I sell everything from $5 to $1000+

There is a price level at which people make an impulse purchase vs. planning to buy it. It may be different in different niches, buy you want to be at the point right before people start to plan. In my niche I believe there is a big difference between $199.99 vs $209.99.

how come ebay aloud stolen phones to be sold on ebay?

How do you know that they are stolen?

I doubt eBay "allow" stolen phones but they probably don't actively seek them out. I bet if you're phone is stolen and you see it for sale on eBay. I bet that if you contact eBay with a copy of a police report and IMEI number they will remove the listing.

It does sound too cheap; I'm guessing that for the time the account maker had to get 60-70 feedbacks on it and be able to sell it for the same price that non-aged 500/25000 accounts are selling for, he did a whole bunch of fake/1cent sales on it. I'm not a fan of making accounts solely for the purpose of getting beyond the holds, because when you buy it and start listing real merchandise on it, it can flag eBay's bots.
