Auto welcome DM affecting follow-back ratio? — my experiment

I've been growing an old Twitter account with Follow Liker for the past 3 months. It's around 3 years old and has 7150 followers. I personally hate people using automated "welcome" direct messages (DM)... but I heard that it could be somewhat useful without affecting the follow-back ratio.

I just started an experiment. I activated the automated welcome DM without changing my other settings. The auto message is non spammy, friendly, and asks people to check out my Facebook page.

I've been recording all my account data, so it'll be pretty easy to see if there is a significant change.

1— Will my follow-back ratio drop because people hate auto DM?
2— Will it increase my like ratio because it actually works?

I'll run this for a couple of weeks and report later with the results.

My current stats
— Twitter new follows (daily, average): 104.09
— Twitter follow-back ratio (daily, average): 21.04%
— Facebook net likes (weekly): between 10 and 25, but as low as 5 (not kidding)
— Twitter automatic direct messages to new followers: 0

YES, my Facebook performance absolutely SUCKS. I don't promote this page. The new likes are so low and random that calculating an average would be pretty useless.

Hey don't get me wrong.
As a user, I hate these automated welcome messages. Do I click? Rarely. Do I bother unfollowing the guy sending me a welcome message? No (if I'm interested in their content).

As a marketer, I'm okay with being a little annoying, as long as it's effective. I'm looking for conversion. If my follow-back ratio drops 5%, but my conversion rate increases by 20%, I guess I'll investigate and find the most efficient way of using this technique.

I've read reports saying that many high profile Twitter marketers actually use this technique, so I guess there must be some sort of positive return.

But I need actual data, and that's what I'll get.

People don't like those automated DMs but the best way to know if it increases or decreases the follow back ratio and likes ratio is to try it.

Most people are aware of instant follow automated DMs, but you'll get a better response with a delay imo

Yeah, I really wish I could do that. It makes a lot of sense. But unfortunately, I think it's impossible to do it with my current tool (FollowLiker). I can only set a certain amount of auto DM to be sent every day.

Actually the thing is that it can not be a message like every single being sent: "Thanks for following bla bla bla". You must be sure that you're including content WORTH seeing and reading in the PM you're sending. It's my opinion.
