Wealthy Affiliate - Legit or Scam?

Honestly, they have been around for quite a while. I was a member of that site a LONG TIME AGO. Like very long ago....possibly almost 10 years ago? I remember there was some decent information there. Of course I never put anything into action, but the forum was real and I remember reading good advice. I believe it's a legitament site with legitament members.

this is typically my experiences with it. they have a wealth of information from over the years of how a few every day folk like you and I made progress of making a passive income (hell some even made a living off it.)
Is it legit? yes. I too used to be a member a long time ago and like another member here said, I didn't put things into action (or rather didn't have the money to keep up with the membership + website etc etc). The owners were extremely nice and helpful..and met their goal of "speaking to everyone". they cared less if you just started or was there for years...they made sure everyone felt welcomed.
I don't know if they are around anymore as I haven't checked, but from my experience...they are good folk and you stand to learn alot if you apply it...similar to here lol.

I made an account there around a year ago when I started IM. The information was hard to find and the site itself was not user-friendly.
Then I found BHW
IMO everything you need is right here and you don't need to jump through hoops or be part of a clique to get it.

Looks pretty gosh darn legit. Nice web 2.0 interface, clean, good reviews.
Question though, is it pretty much just "we will show you how to make a website and affiliate marketing?" because if that is the case just stay here or use google or maybe buy a book.

Some of the information is a bit outdated. It works on the premise that if you create a blog and update it regularly, traffic comes to your website. So let's say you get 5 visitors per blog post. You get 1,000 entries in your blog, you'll get 5,000 visitors a day. You've got to make at least one affiliate sale a day like that right?
Blog posts are based around low competition keywords. They want you to sign up to Jaaxy ($19/mo) to find them. Plus the membership costs like $47/mo. The membership comes with website hosting, but you can't do ANYTHING with your website but set it up and add plugins. That would piss you off if you're used to having complete control over your website. But if you're a newbie, that may not bother you.

I was a member there within the past year, but I quit. This forum has everything you need for free.
It's not a scam at all. If you're a newbie and you need your hand held, and you have the money, then you'll love it. Everyone there is super friendly. Senior members love helping people out over there.
But it wasn't for me. I don't need my hand held. I don't like having my hand held or paying $47 for hosting. When I joined I realized I knew more than most of the people there. I needed to go somewhere that challenged me. That's why I quit and came over here.

That reminds me. The information in their tutorials can be easily found on youtube anyway. And it was pretty basic stuff.
They offer a hosting platform called SiteRubix part of the premium membership. Should I start my website on this hosting platform? Can I migrate my content, files, etc.. to a new hosting if I cancel my membership? Its on the Wordpress CMS.

There is nothing special about wealthy affiliate. They exist and function exactly the same way as the classic guru model. They capitalize on fear, weakness, lack of motivation, drone mentality, and most importantly on those who want to live the dream of having tons of wealth without working hard. Sadly it is just a dream, and most people have the exact same experience as those here have mentioned, i.e. they get started, lose focus, and drop out.
All Wealthy Affiliate wants to do is get their 3 month turn-around on new members, and keep the revolving door moving. And yes to do that - there do have to be success stories. Just remember everything is not always as it appears, and making money online is hard work no matter what anyone might tell you. The information from wealthy affiliate is fine for ground zero information. The smile is just there to ensure you are happy for the required 3-month period that makes it possible for Wealthy Affiliate to adequately project its monthly revenues based on it's inbound funnels, and existing customer base.
It's all about the numbers, and making the mistake of thinking you are anything more than that in one of these elite "mastermind" groups means you are probably the one with the target on your back. These programs are all a dime a dozen, and they aren't even worth that. Of course - if you want to believe you will make millions online without doing any work - then they may be just the thing for you. They will be much more than happy to help you earn money online by teaching you how to spend money online.

Damn, I've been considering joining WA, but am ambivalent after reading opinions. I'm a complete noob that only learned how to build a stupid T-shirt biz on Etsy using a fulfillment company and their hosting, with very poor conversion I might add, lol. But big plans to make a WordPress blog in a few great micro niches and monetize it with ads, affiliate marketing, E-books, then integrate my T-shirts. Crossing my fingers.
I have befriended a girl on WA (Facebook) making some money through them using an Amazon store. And I agree with the positive opinions, they are obviously legit and I like their chat forum, people seem nice.
Right now I'm paying for GetResponse monthly and not doing anything with it, because I'm a noob. :behindsof

Honestly with the methods they provide at Wealthy Affiliate, it be a surprise if you even got paid before 5 months of work.
They are completely Whitehat to the extent where they don't promote using backlinks
But what really irked me was that WA seemed more like an MLM network the more I got into it. The members are completely brainwashed.
If you search any IM course by the word "review" you'll find many website saying the course is a scam and you should join Wealthy Affiliate.
I wouldn't get into it. IMO there are better places to spend $47 at.

Think of it this way, they make money on membership and members promoting their program, that should tell you something... besides that, you can learn what it takes to be successful affiliate for free by googling things around. It does take time, but the experience will be priceless. After a while you'll be able to see what's valuable and what's garbage. Surprisingly, at least it was the case for me, the most valuable info came from free resources.

I imagine that something like WA might be good for a total noob with no experience of affiliate marketing, but for anybody else I doubt they cover anything that hasn't been discussed on BHW or can be found online with Google.

Yeah, the general consensus on WA is 6 months to 1 year for conversion. Actually, I believe they purport it's closer to 1 year for real conversion. However, that one person I befriended from WA she said she was making money just starting out into Month 1, 2 using an Amazon store in the cat behavior niche.

I've been a member of Wealthy Affiliate for about 2.5 years. Got sucked in big time. Although the step-by-step training is easy to follow, most people there don't seem to earn a lot of money. In fact, many members seem to treat it like a paid version of Facebook, wasting time posting personal updates and light motivational posts. And it seems to be a case of "blind leading the blind" a lot of the time.
I would like to say it's good for newbies, but I'm not even sure that's true. Newbies get told to just base their niche on whatever they are most interested in. It's too much of a "hit the ball and see where it lands" approach. Sometimes it will work, but many times it won't.
And if a new member can't decide what niche to choose, they get encouraged to do the bootcamp course, which teaches them to promote WA by saying it's better than everything else out there. I got really sucked into that for a while.
And negativity is suppressed there. If you post something too negative about WA, it gets hidden. And if you write a negative review on your website, you get sued, as happened to someone very recently. So if you notice that all the reviews of WA are positive, and all the members in WA seem delighted to be there, that's why. All the negative stuff get suppressed.
Negative posts of mine got hidden, even though I've made some valid criticisms that have been taken on board. I no longer have write access at WA, though. Obviously I'm too honest...
