The Shopify + Facebook Method FAQ - All Questions Here Please.

First of all, thanks a lot for this thread. This will be my first attempt at a BHW inspired project.

I'm currently considering 2 options:
Option #1:
I have a domain (with a niche focused name) which I've been working on for another project. But I could easily switch this around to a webshop until I'm finished with the original project. I've no idea how good this niche would do in this method though. Fortunately the whole setup is centered around a low-risk scenario, so I've no problem with experimenting.

Option #2:
Go for the Shopify-Facebook method.
I have some questions regarding shopify though:
1) Do you make a new trial account for every product/niche? Or do you create 1 legit account, and update that one?
2) If your answer to question 1 is "new trial account for every product", how do you set up the payment methods. It's pretty easy coming up with a new persona everytime, but I assume if 20 different trial accounts have the same e-mail(read; paypal address), I'm assuming Shopify will get suspicious.

Any suggestions which method I should start focusing on? Or is this a standard newbie question with inevitable "trial and error" answers?

i am totally newbie to this. i understand getting product from aliexpress or alibaba or etc. and selling to my own shopify store using facebook , pinterests whatever sources of traffic. my question is i am belong to the country where PayPal is not supported.
can i used other payment method like 2checkout? can anyone explain me about payments ? if i used third party payment then will shopify taking any fee? i am totally confused. kindly Help me if someone here from Pakistan or any other country where paypal is not available.

UPDATE - How to get the correct shipping fee if you have items with varying weights in your store.
If you've read my earlier reply here,I posted a way to get the correct shipping fee ($9.95/item in the cart) rather than $9.95 only for multiple items. But,the limitation there was to add common WEIGHTS to your products.

My own store had multiple products with varying weights so I needed to find something else and I have. This is how it looks - http://prntscr.com/958gp8

*What to do?
1. Add a new shipping rate Based on Order Price -
http://prntscr.com/958h5p
Each of my product is set to $0.01 so if I added two items to the cart, the total would be $0.02. So I've set the minimum and maximum price to be $0.02 and total shipping fee to be $19.5($9.95 + $9.95) and named it "Standard Shipping (2 items)".

Continue this for how many ever products you want and you'll get something like this - http://prntscr.com/958gp8

So now I can add multiple items of varying weights to my store and cart and the price will still be calculated accordingly. Check it out - http://prntscr.com/958ihj

Hope this helps. Good luck. :D

I think it's not profitable nor easy to manage on the long term if your products are priced 0,01$ or similar.
Would you trust a webshop that offers products for such a ridicilous price? Why don't you continue with products based on weight?

If you are using Shopify weight isn't even shown in the webshop itself, only at the checkout. 1 product = max 1 kg, 2 products = max 2 kg etc. Much easier in my opinion.

Work with coupons, if your product is $29,99 give them a coupon of $29 for a limited time and for 1 product only it will have a better effect I assume.

cheers

One weird thing happening now for me - the amount of people i am able to reach daily is lower that when i started out. Could it be because of the competition growing for this method?

Plan's to start with some churn-n-burn stores before I go all out crazy with a huge one. :D

I will go over the questions soon but first I need to say something. The reason people are failing is because of niches!!! I've seen some of the stores and people are just selling stuff you can go and find down at the local store or shit people have no reason to buy.

For example USB sticks, Who sees a USB stick on Facebook and goes "hell yea I need that!" No one does. A usb stick is something you buy at the local shop when you need it. You NEED to advertise shit people want, shit where people go "wow I want this now!" Do not PM me saying shit doesn't work then send me a shop selling dam USB sticks. Don't be lazy and find a passionate niche. Someone made 35k not long ago with this method from on necklace. It was a legends of Zelda necklace. Get where I'm going with that? SUPER passionate niche.

You would have more luck selling a jar full of air and labelling it Justin Bieber's fart than you would selling USBs and shit like that. Don't sell common items. Sell unique stuff. Thats why so many people made money off the LED dog collar at the start, it was unique.

Would the customer find out the product is from Alibaba? Also we need to find a seller that is willing to sell the cheap product piece by piece right? because i saw a lot of them have a min. order from few hundred to a few thousand pieces

Aliexpress ;) not Alibaba :)

Finally the guy who explained to us without affiliate links.. Thank you:super:

I see a lot of people struggle with a place to find a product from. Although AliExporess is one of the biggest of its kind, its also one of the crappiest. I wont give you more info, but if you are passionate enough you will find much much better marketplaces, ones that ship to US and/or EU within a week.
I would have kept this for myself but people are left with the impression that buying from China is so hard and you will have problems with quality and/or with borders. Its not like that, its the same like shopping from Amazon with the difference of shipping time.

Please don't feed crappy sites like AliExpress anymore, there are much better marketplaces out there. This is just my opinion so don't feel offended in any way.

Good luck !

Another question is, can a noob really do it? I see this advertised as "noob friendly" or "spoonfed" but whenever I check out journeys, all the real noobs are failing hard even tough some follow the insutrctions orthodoxly.
All the people who are making money had some sort of history or background in selling on ebay, already owned a social account with followers, some sort of knowledge on IM and SEO so this is absolutely not noob-friendly.

Can a few "noobs" post their successful journey to confirm this? Otherwise I don't want to lose money like the other noobs did.

The most part of passionate niches that come to my mind are copyrighted...

Franklin and some other experts can you visit this thread? I'm sure you can provide a lot of useful information.

Thanks in advance!

The noobs fail because they are lazy and find the first product they see then start 1 advert on Facebook hoping to make bank. I've seen some stores and there is no effort at all when it comes to picking a niche. Yes noobs can do it if they quit been lazy.

This is all great stuff I agree it's totally about the niche. A few questions..
Do you ever use the epacket shipping option, I noticed it's not to bad of a deal for a faster shipping option. And can I use the same shopify account to set up a 2nd store?

@ Franklin

Have you ever tried a twist to this? Eventhough your method is already a good twist :D.

1. Find a product between $1-$10 + Free shipping on Aliexpress
2. Sell the product for $10-$15 or more + Free shipping in your own webshop
3. Maybe add a coupon of $5 or more to get things rolling.

Advantages
1. People are attracted to the free shipping and will not complain/refund so fast as it is free after all and they expect a longer delivery time. If it's faster great!
2. You are most likely still cheaper than your competitors and the free shipping is considered as a plus.

You could try this but most of the attention is brought on when you say your products are for $0.00 or $0.01 each..

Amazing thread OP ! Never thought shopify has a great possibility to make banks. When you are using facebook ads, shopify retargetapp could be even more helpful to you.

Really hard to get a foot on the ground with this method. 262 views of one product page on my store, zero sales. I tried free products plus shipping, 0.01 products plus shipping, $19.99 products with coupon etc. etc. Nothing worked. Tried different products, plush toys, fishing, camping, necklace, dog collars etc. etc..
I get views on my website, but never any order. I already thought there is something not working right etc, but I tried to order from my own shop and it works.
So really I do not know how people can have 20-50 orders per DAY with this, I tried this for more than one week now with zero orders.
