Proxy use with mIRC

I'm using mIRC for my latest project and I just cannot get it to work with proxies. I need to be able to switch proxies when I choose. I'm not limited to mIRC if there's another IRC client that is easier to use with proxies. I've gone to tons of different sites and tried both SOCKS4/5 and HTTP proxys. At this point, I'm willing to pay someone to help me set this up. I've seen the listing for buying private proxies, but will that help my configuration issues?

Currently using:
Firewall support: Both
Protocol: Socks5
Hostname: The proxy IP
User/Pass: None
Port: The proxy port

it depends also which servers you go to most of the irc servers have proxy scanners for the most commonly used ports and boot you once you connect the trick is to find proxys with uncommon ports.

You are going to need SOCKS proxies for IRC. HTTP proxies will not work. Look into http://www.proxybonanza.com

So I've purchased a plan from proxy bonanza. Do you use proxies with IRC? I've looked at a couple different tutorials etc but I get a "general SOCKS server failure" when I try to connect.

well, i dont think most irc programs like mirc support socks and http proxy authentication do they? i know proxy bonanza requires your username/pass to use each proxy. best to cap the irc client with something that supports authentication like proxyfirewall.

You can ask them about IP authentication. I'm not sure if their shared plans offer it but their exclusive plans certainly do.

The easiest way is probably what B166ER has said and just run it through Proxy-Firewall.
