I wasn't sure where to put this thread so I decided to put it here. I'll make this as brief and simple as possible, I am planning on marketing a fundraiser and I am not sure how I should go about doing so. The fundraiser is for helping someone of need and I am not familiar with the marketing practice for such a thing. Basically, how should you market this?

Wow that is a really open ended question.
You really need to decide who you are marketing to first, then find out the sort of places they are going to be and then target those places.

I am thinking most likely its going to be promoting it on Facebook, promoting to local groups, local business pages, twitter and other social media etc.....

Doesn't really help with my marketing problem though.........

Well if you're not smart enough to understand what davids told you, then you probably shouldn't start this project.
Marketing is a word that englobe tons of specificities for all fields imaginable in the world.

What you're talking about is marketing a fundraising campaign for a charity cause. Well if you're not familiar with fundraising then you should start by there and go as mentioned, on https://www.gofundme.com/charity/

Figured as much but what about seo? Should I r\try seo and if so which seo tactics are okay to use and are efficient? I know white seo okay but not sure it would be very effective and black seo can be use for legit business depending on what you're doing. Also for social media part, what's a good tactic to converting them into donors?

As nice as you seem, I think you don't have the knowledge to handle such a project if you have no idea of what you're talking about. If I understood well, you want to help someone in particular. Then do it offline, or find charity causes related to his/her problem.

SEO, social marketing, fundraising are not fields you can learn overnight and it will take you weeks, months, even maybe years of your time to understand and put a project like this is you're a newbie.

If you expect someone to give you tips, you'll have to be very more specific in what you want, but broad questions like "how to do seo" or "how to convert people into donors" make it seems like you have no idea what you put your feet into.

No harsh feeling, I just think in that case, your time would be more rewarded by going directly to charities, offline, already existing.

TayaX Sorry that was meant for bimmerime but you gave good advice nonetheless..........

Well I wasn't really planning to learn this overnnight and I think you may be exaggerating a bit when you mention it may take years to learn. I regard this a learning experience to becoming proficient in the art marketing stuff on the interwebs!!!!! I mean you got to start off somewhere right? I didn't think "how to convert people into donors" was broad. What would've been more specific? I rather to do my own thing than working with charity, I am quite whimsical..................

I didn't think "how to convert people into donors" was broad.

It's not broad, it's just ... naive. In short, you ask "how you make to take money from other people?", so you ask for tactics, methods, ... that people don't want to share.

Seriously, imagine: you know a method to make money which works. Are you going to tell to everyone: "Hey! Here is my method to make money and it works!" In few days, your method is dead.

Furthermore, which works for someone won't work for you: the country, the culture, the people you want to take money from, the way to spend money, ... a lot of things are different.
