It's no longer important because the metric is no longer updated by Google. Google still uses PR but it hasn't revealed or updated the metric since 2013.

PR is no longer relevant because it only shows you 2013 data. 2014-2015's data is kept secret by Google.

A variety of services and websites will mention PR in order to trick you to pay them higher money. Stay away from them.
