How to upload HD video/images?

I've seen people that seem to be able to upload HD photos and video, but as soon as I upload, it becomes degraded. Is there something special that has to be done?

1. Do not upload through IG client.
2. Prepare your photos and resize them to have 1080 pixel on the shortest side.

What would you upload them through? I use the official app. Why would preparing it matter? Shouldn't it autosize within the app?

because autosize will always mess with the quality

Don't know what planet you guys are on bit there is no photo resize. You pick high quality option in Instagram setting. Cropping isnt autosizing and you can post any size you want except there is a limit on the how long the photo is from top to bottom. If you want to post a panorama you can.

I upload them through my own client. After the image is uploaded it will be post processed and resized by the server anyway. So not to loose quality, do not use official client.

It used to be the min size is 640x640, but IG changed to 1080x1080. So to be safe, crop all your photos to at least 1080x1080. If you can't, don't go below 640x640.

Ig photos don't have to be squre anymore, but yeah I'm having the same problem while posting with FL the quality is very very low. not very happy about it :/

You're talking about Android, right? I don't have this option on iPhone.

Anyway. Uploading photos directly and letting IG servers do the work improves picture quality.

Having the same problem on Android, my photos of any size become looking too sharp after uploading.
