You cant pay rent from having powerful backlinks

Well, to be honest if it was me I probably would have took them up on it, assuming I got a link back to by site from the huffington post I would be pretty happy - even though I am sure it would be no follow I guess its still a valuable link to add to your profile plus there is the traffic of course.....

But if that guy is in a position to turn that offer down then he must be doing ok :-)

This is exactly what big names like HuffingtonPost take advantage of. They offer exposure while cashing in from the content that other people have created.

Yep. That's why I think all HuffPo writers are idiots unless they sell links. I was just commenting on this in another thread. HuffPo is worth millions and idiot writers work there for free. I want to apply to be a writer just so I can rape them with paid backlinks and then report them to Google for selling links.
 
I'd say Huffington Post guys are right.
Their backlink worth more than a page of some mediocre content.
