More Followers = Less Engagement

Seriously, wtf guys. We've all been having engagement issues because of some alleged "drop off" that nobody knows about and can't quite put their finger on.
I was in denial for a long time and was convinced things were going to change as the account grew. But i am now at my wits end and am certain, without a doubt..... I have been losing engagement steadily every since I had 10k followers. At 10k I was getting many posts go over 1k likes. I now have 41k and am lucky to get 500. It has been gradual ever since 10k. This is a serious mind fuck.

If you think about it and do the math..... The drop off is HUMONGOUS. Like way huge. Big red flag.

10k followers = 1000 likes
41k followers = MAYBE 500 likes?????

They can't have an algorithm, can they? It's a feed... Users either see it or they don't. Is instagram fucking hiding pictures from users as you gain more followers?

I am an authority figure in this niche and each post gets between 5-100 comments.

Yeah. You right. I have same problem too. I was 10.1k Followers and was getting 300-400 Likes but now 18.6k Followers but likes 400-500. For extra 8.5k i am getting only 100 Likes extra

Same here. My engagement was better with ~2.000 than with 10.000 followers! I've tried using FLC with my FL (without comments) and it did absolutely nothing for my engagement, even followback was almost the same as with just following / liking the usual way.

well i believe there are exponentially more fake/bot accounts and followers in the mix now, so you probably have the exact same number of real followers as you had before. As such, one would expect engagement to be a pretty flat line, imo.

Lies. So ur telling me that following the followers of the exact same whale accounts in this niche in the beginning.. Which gained me 10k real followers... All of a sudden I'm following nothing but bot accounts? And on top of that my regular users fall off from engaging. From 10k all the way to 41k? Do you have any idea how delusional that sounds?

Very possible that it's just going to take a month or two for things to get back to normal after IG's algo update

The problem usually is the 40k people following you probably are following 1000s of other people so them seeing your posts will be rare resulting in little likes. Where the 10k people are not following as many people resulting in more likes. Hopefully that makes sense.

Don't listen to these people they have no fucking clue. The reason your engagement drops is that instajews reduce your appearance in the explore tab. Ill give you a rough example: before drop a photo contain 2K likes may have gotten 1200 likes from your followers and 800 likes from non followers. The only way non followers would have seen your photo was tag or explore tab. After drop. E.g you increase followers but you same example may give you 1200 likes from followers and only 200 likes from non-followers.
So in order for you to reach that total of 2K likes you will need say 1800 to come from folliwers and 200 from non followers.
Now you think to yourself how do you go from 1000 follower likes to 1800 follower likes? Only one answer. More followers.
So if 50K gave you 2K then chances are after engagement hit, 80K is needed to hit that same mark.

yeah this is def happening, my friend who has 60k would get 1k on his likes 1-1.5k consantly, he posted 2 days ago and it only got 300 ,
then he posted something else it was back to the usual
and then it started happening to me
getting 1.2k every photo dropping down to like 500-600

I was hitting 1.2-1.5k for every picture in a 50k account, after 51-52k-ish the engagement dropped HARD to 600-900 likes per pic (while same number of comments), it sucks REALLY BADLY! They are INDEED cutting your appearance in the explore/activity tabs... All your followers are, however, still seeing your pics in the feed.

They detect your commercial intent and start throttling you. To stay organic in FB and IG you must somehow avoid triggering their commercial post detection.

What ur saying makes sense...... But what I'm saying is that I waited a long time to wait till I was sure....... But i legit think my engagement is going DOWN with more followers. Ive been monitoring for over half a year. Like.... I may be at 100 likes once I hit 100k. Its like that.

my biggest of four pages, when i was at 57K i would get 2,000 plus likes pretty much every photo, now over the past 5-6 months i've gotten up to about 105K, still posting like 3 of the best photos i can find and really good times when IG is active and i now with almost 50,000 more followers than when i was getting 2K+ likes a photo, i now get like 1,400,1,600 likes per photo.... sooo who knows what the hell is going on, some guys in the exact same niche as me with like 200K+ only get like 2,900-3,100 likes per photo which you'd think it'd be a lot more for them too, wish there was a fix to bring engagement back up
