Hi, I want to ask for the possible ways of automatisation. Like software/sites. What software could I use, free and paid?

Careful with eBay, they may shut you down as they did with us. Automation is great, but if they catch on then they can bring down holy hell.

*Edit, always have more accounts to keep safe in the event this does happen. I was merely testing a new tool which i now know is not safe to use ;)

check out Pricematik
Yeah, I learned about this site and im trying it out at the moment, thanks.

But why, is the automation forbidden? I thought it would be great to automate the whole process, as pricematik is doing it.

Automation is the ONLY way to bank hard on eBay. Not familiar with Pricematik though.. Definitely check them out and tell us all about it :)

The problem with automation is that it means low barrier of entry so any profitable niches will draw competitors left and right and pretty soon it becomes a contest of who can survive with the least profit. If you keep doing that you're competing with some chinese who're happy to make 10 cents a sale.

I disagree. I sell items at a higher price then my competitors because my titles are good enough that they don't even show up in my buyers search. Wholesaling doesn't entice me because it requires capital and you're paying for things you don't know you're going to be able to sell.

Your selling isn't automated?

In my experience having good keywords don't even come into affect until you get above a certain level of feedbacks. I'm almost 100% certain eBay's cassini system does not take into affect keywords in your title until after stuff like sellthrough and defect rate.

Trading in volume has HUGE advantages if you source direct though. Say something you buy is $37.50 wholesale and sells for $99.99 on eBay. If you bring big volume and cash up front, you may be able to buy direct from the producer at $20 and no one selling from US an compete against you on price. If a competitor starts messing with you, you start selling what they're selling at $39.99 and put them out of business.

I try to stay away from automation. Remember, if it can be automated, some Chinese guy can automate and his costs are lot less than yours.

Interesting. Until your paypal holds are off you're basically selling for feedback anyways: I usually sell at about a 2 dollar PM for the first three months.

Additionally, I purchase around ten items and get my gold star feedback wise. Perhaps that's why I've never had a problem search engine wise

I completely agree with that. Many of the most successful stores I find are wholesaling, and that certainly eliminates piggy backers

Physically don't have and can't get the capital though. Not just for the inventory but also the capacity.. from our conversations I'm guessing that your overhead is $$$$. Drop-ship to wholesale then?

That makes sense because you're wholesaling. Do you have VA's running your store or are you just handling everything?

In my experience, buying in an account does not help you in any way when trying to sell.

I've been at this a long time. It takes time to build your capital and come up with a system that fits your personality. I am friendly with some friendly competitors and we cooperate on certain things so we share info and hang out at each other's place of operations and sometimes they get exasperated at seeing how I operate because I'm so worried about safety. But then this fits my personality and I couldn't do what they're doing, pulling off high risk, high payoff strategies.

I wholesale, manufacture, dropship for others, and I even had retail stores at one point. I have a freelancers taking product photos and photoshop work and an employee handling low level customer service and answering stupid questions. I do all listing and money related stuff.

Funny how the above post(s) mention how automation may bring you down to holy hell. I understand that eBay is sometimes strict but there must have been other reasons for you to get shut down. There are dozens of very large sellers doing the Amazon > eBay Arbitrage Method. When I say very large I'm talking HUGE. Doing 10-20k feedback/month. There is no other way they do it other than Automation. How do I know? I have multiple accounts doing 500+ feedback/month and I do it manually. If I was doing 20-40 times that it would be absolutely impossible. These sellers I mentioned above have been doing it for years and clearly aren't going anywhere. They have mastered the method. I think as long as you find a reputable software or create one yourself you are good to go. I've come to terms with that. I'm scared to move to automation as well because of the risk of it failing and completely ruining the accounts, but I will have to sooner or later to grow.

I've split tested and gotten MUCH better results starting out with a gold star vs selling with 0 feedback. Chalk it up to credibility

I also prefer being safe. What's the point of building an empire if it's going to come crumbling down

If you're starting off selling five items I see that the paypal holds will come off long before you'd really need them to (fronting the money for orders-wise).

Wow. You've essentially Monopolized the system :)

As I said, it took years to get here. If I knew what I know now back when I started, I have no doubt in my mind I'd be a multi-multi-multi millionaire now. Way back when I was one of the top ten biggest sellers in a category that has a few billion in sales at Amazon now.

I've read about a few automation services for ecommerce literally last week and was planning on subscribing to one but thought of them as a too good to be true type of thing. Can you tell me are they fully automatic(when someone buys your product do they buy the product from your suppliers website and ship to the customer's address)or do you have to still do leg work?

Think about this. If all you had to do was to buy the program and you don't have to do anything else, why wouldn't the people selling the program do it themselves and make all the money instead of selling copies?

Ecommerce might not be their thing or they could be doing both, alot of reasons honestly.

If they're smart enough to come up with an automated system, they're smart enough to figure out that they'll make metric tons more money by running the system themselves instead of selling copies.

The thing is the people that are selling softwares are trying to make the easy money. Easy if they know how to create software so to speak and easier than building up an ebay account and dealing with all of the nonsense along the way. When I mentioned the HUGE ebay sellers doing Arbitrage on eBay they are NOT using a purchased software from one of these companies you see advertising to automate it. They 100% had their own software designed to suit their needs.
