Can some please give me a clue as to what's going on? My 2 months old site just recently lost a whopping 50% of its traffic (after ordering a WEB 2.0 BL).
Is this what is referred to as "Google dance" or has my site been penalized? Please help.

Are you checking your rankings using a SERP tracker? Maybe your ranks went down a bit because of the google dance.

Here's my ranking. KW is a fairly easy to rank, little to no competition.
I had some KW positive movement since last time i posted on the thread, so I'm really confused.
My major KW rankings had remain stable (according to serplab.co.uk) even with the 50% drop in traffic.
After the drop I panicked and i ordered for a blog post from a reputable member here (just 2 days ago), I guess I shouldn't have done that.. :/

No, I didn't pay for traffic. all traffics are organic from bing, google and yahoo. some FB traffic from my page too.

If your kws are still ranking the same then obviously you haven't been penalized, if you were penalized you would be dropped in search results.

If your rankings didn't drop, then there's nothing to worry about. You should be using Google Analytics or Clicky, not Ahrefs, to keep track of your website's traffic.

The primary purpose of ahrefs is to track backlinks not site traffic. Also, there is not much change in site rankings so if there is a drop in traffic then it may be due to reduced search trend.

I have been going through replies and it's awesome how highly wise BHW members are.

If your ranking has not dropped, then don't worry, even if it dropped some few keywords, don't worry.
My website was dropped from 3rd position to 9th position in first page after sending some links to it, but after like two weeks, am now on 4th position naturally.

Looks like you're recovering already. Sounds like it was just a dance. You noticed the traffic drop due to the change from top3 to top10- on most, which is nothing to worry about.

By straight cut off I meant rankings like: 34,31,30,36,39,37,31 all cut off at 30.

Thanks. I do use GA on my site, traffic on GA also showed a 50% decrease. the up and down movement on ahref just picked my interest as i didn't look normal.
