Ok, so about 2 months ago I've built a CPA site that currently has 7 articles. Most of these articles are ranking in the top 100 top 50 but have low monthly searches mainly because when I originally started this site it was supposed to be an authority site that mainly ranks off long tails.

Now I do have a keyword with 1.5k monthly searches and I'm confused whether I should just focus on this keyword and rank it or just rank all these articles all at once, the problem with ranking all these articles all at the same time would be too much work. I would need to build at least 70 manual web 2.0s which seems time consuming considering I want quality, What do you guys think?

What I would do is optimize your homepage for the higher search volume keywords, 1 or 2 of them... then just focus on building links to your homepage, this should rank your homepage(larger keywords) and help your inner pages(long tail keywords) at the same time.

I would also just focus on quality links from sites that are actually related to your sites topic(s)....and vary that anchor text to look natural.

Good luck!

Give some extra focus on that 'high search volume' article page but also optimize the other pages just like you are currently doing.

Going for one keyword only is a big mistake, I learned that lesson long time ago. Going for long-tails can bring you some good benefits:

- Backlinks to inner pages contribute to the overall authority level of your website. This will boost your main keyword as well.
- Long tails will show you results faster than "going for 1 keyword only". This will keep you motivated to do your work properly and not rushing it. Rushing = risking to screw everything.
- Ranking long-tails will bring you lots of experience in achieving the #1 spot for tougher keywords.

Good luck :D

First of all, I wouldn't be building 70 Web. 2.0's manually, you can automate this process and still create good Web 2.0's simply by using good quality content. So, the issue for you here is not the time but the money you're willing to invest in to content. If the keyword you're referring to is going to be bring you in a good amount of traffic, leads and ultimately $, then invest in to some high quality links (PBN) to rank & bank.

Of course there are many other factors that will go in to play but I'm not going to write a book in this post but do your research and focus on "quality" links, depending on the competition it should give you a nice little boost in ranking(s).

Thing is I don't have a static front page I use latest posts which show my inner pages, so how would I go about optimizing the keyword with high searches on the homepage?

It is better to optimize first your website completely after that just search for a good low competition keywords with high searches but in a ratio. If we use the keywords according to their ratio then it's like winning half of the battle. ... :)

What are you talking about, I already have keywords. I'm asking if I should focus on just one.

There is 2 points,
1st working in you all internal pages is really a great seo practice.
2nd about the time for web 2.0 cost, it is about $0.07 in our panel :-)

You should be automating and out sourcing content generation and focusing on tracking the analytics of your long-tails. It is good to both focus on high performing key words and also keep experimenting to find more high traffic long-tails.

I mean you should have to focus more towards that keyword based article which have high search volume as you are doing but along with that you should also have to take care of all your inner pages to improve the ranking and this can also be easy if you optimize there keywords(low competition + high searches).

And as you want to create the web2.0 then I think you can also do it this by writing 1 best article, which all say a quality one and blasting it in an automated web2.0 creation tool.
