Ya! I knows with Local SEO duplicate content doesn't matter, you can rank local term with duplicate content.

But How about foreight niche sites? have you done that (rank a site with duplicate content)?

I don't think dup content is a good idea in any case.

Duplicate content site will rank for shortly but once it is penalized there is tough chance to get it back. So, better to use original content or well spinned content.

Well i am not going to show you my sites, but you could not be more wrong, that is all i can say... My local websites (going in their eight year now) are ranking for service + city with 98% duplicated content on a .info domain on the old standard wordpress theme (with the blue header) and they are pulling leads for me every day. Just because you can't rank duplicate content because you guys are programmed to scared of the all mighty Google doesn't mean it can't be done.

Look into a plugin called serp shaker (used to be local pages ninja) and give it a shot instead of claiming that it can't be done.

If you're linking to the source, it's syndicated content and Google is completely fine with it.

Duplicate content - I doubt it works, foreign or not. There's no point in Google giving a user the same information more than once.

I agree with your dup content analysis, the SERPS would be getting overcrowded, But......

The thing is that the info is on a local level, that is why you can easily rank the almost exact same content for another city of town, because it doesn't interfere with each other in the serps, i don't think that Google was planning on that, but it is a side effect that i am exploiting for years now, it works in googl.com, but t works even better in google.nl... so for you folks outside the english language realm you got some great opportunities to make real easy money.

I think its depend of niche. If we choose quite easy niche, with local seo landing pages with duplicated content for every city - it could be working for some time. If you have a lot of competitors, you can get better efects mixing content for every city. I've tested that way on polish and german market and it's really good.

Google stated earlier in the year that they're working on addressing the doorway pages local sites were doing (the majority with dupe content). It's not a great idea.

My bad, I didn't actually understand what you were refering to at first. Duplicate content on local sites works, simply because you are not ranking for the same KWs. Still, I don't think this is a long term strategy, it will get "fixed" at some point...
