What do you hate most about IM?

Hate about IM?

1) That so many people consider themselves "IMers" rather than entrepreneurs.
2) That most people don't realize the last thing you wanna be in life is an "IMer".
3) That our real job isn't internet marketing, or content marketing, or seo.. but WAR in the form of capitalism.
4) People who talk about building websites rather than building businesses.
5) People who talk about building websites rather than funnels that will drive traffic to those websites.
6) People who build websites BEFORE finding hungry fucking people with their wallets open.
7) People who get into IM to avoid people rather than meet people.
8) People who get into IM rather than capitalism.
9) People who'd rather have an online site making $400 / month than an automated offline site making $4000 / month.
10) People who think in terms of methods or techniques rather than the secret-underlying-overarching-strategy that allow my same exact "techniques" to be more profitable than yours.

blah blah

I know this is an internet marketing forum. But it seems so many get lost focusing on the internet or world wide webz when they need to be focused on the fucking money.

I found the thing I really hated in the beginning about internet marketing was the constantly changing tide and trends. Like others have stated above, this isn't a job per se, it's a business. After being crushed by the pesky Google updates in the past, my biggest piece of advice I could give to anyone is capture your leads and build a list!

The amount of people in IM who allow bucket loads of traffic to pass through when things are going well is crazy. This goes for paid traffic too. A lot of people buy traffic and send it automatically to a sales page for an affiliate product in the hopes of them purchasing it, and then struggle to break even. Instead, they should be sending that paid traffic to their own opt-in page first, to capture the email and build their own list which they can build a relationship with and eventually sell to over and over again.

This is just my two cents on the whole thing anyway. To summarise, the number one thing I hate about IM is the changing trends and volatility, and to counter this I personally make it a priority that I capture leads from any traffic and build a relationship with them through a pre-written autoresponder. It'll save a fortune down the line too because you won't have to spend as much on marketing and traffic campaigns as you'll have your own goldmine of traffic ready to be redirected wherever you wish to take them.

But not easy, it makes you feel useless :/

Just keep thinking about it until it registers in your mind that YOU are in the better position - then you'll have an aha moment and internalize it and tell youself "duuuuh, of course!"

The failing part. The long hours, months spent working on something just to fail. I have failed more times than I have been successful, but I've only been successful because I am constantly testing different methods. So yeah, the whole wasting a bunch of precious time is a little bit annoying.

Right now its just traffic for me, I've had decent success so far on my road and converting etc. is all no problem. just the traffic, thats also why im looking for partnerships in that sense. Because I think for some people this is relatively easy while they think converting is hard. And I think the other way around :)

pros: You can make in one day the same money than in a month of working in a "normal" job

cons: If you are not enough good, the monthly income is very unstable
