Who Owns My Guest Post?

I was working for a company as an employee. I wrote some guest posts for them and got it published. We now have links from 3 different domains.

I don't work there anymore.

If I change these links to some other company or client site, can I be sued legally by my previous employer?

At the end of the day, who owns the guest post anyways? My understanding is it's the owner of the site the post is published on.

Read the contract between you and your employer and there should be a clause in there stating who owns the content you create for the company.

If there isn't one, read the terms of service (TOS) on the site and find anything related to the phrase, "all of the content on this site is owned by ____________".

if ownership rights are not expressed in either of these documents, then you can assume that you own the copyright to your original work.

i suppose if you wrote it and the contract does not say otherwise that anything you create belongs to them...which would be extremely stupid of them ...then its yours

The owner of the site owns the link I guess, but it depends, if your employer bought the links they probably have some form of contract with the seller which you are not technically a part of.

As said above, you probably also had a contract with your employer where everything you done whilst in the employment belonged to them so potentially you can not legally change those links.

Having said all of that, who cares! Its only a few links so just change them and see if your old employer a) even notices and b) bothers to come after you over it.

I think, the ownership of the guest posts depend on the contract that you have signed with the company.

Can't really tell. There should be some sort of contract which says whether the articles are published on the website with your permission, or that they own all the articles in the website. You need to read up and figure it out, it's the only way.
