Negative SEO Field Test 2015 Edition

I used adult and gambling words and the position jumped from 10 all the way to number 1 where it has sat ever since. Maybe the new ranking method is using clear negative SEO keywords.

This is what I was wondering, would adult terms make a difference?

Thanks for your hard work bro!

Peace,
Z

So you are saying we are back to 2011 where we worried less about aggressive link building? That simple Google just decided to turn off all link related penalties/filters/flags and manual actions

You need to wait for next Penguin update if your site survived please update this post

....50,000 blog comments .... 200,000 forum profile blasts, .... 25,000 web2.0

Thats not how negative seo is done. Neg seo is for exaple 100k-500k blog comments per day for few weeks, or similar number of forum posts. 50k blog comments one time dont look like neg seo... Big part of forum profile blasts wont be seen by google, same with web 2.0s (you probably talk about web 2.0s from senuke or GSA). Im working every day with sites hit by neg seo and yes neg seo is possible if done right.

Would like to see a few 'small' 250,000 link Xrumer blasts too :-)

Top- report back in 30-45 days. If you hit this weekly..it will be dust by then if you are doing what you said.
One question- did you use url canonicalization?

Not even that much. Send the right type of BAD links and with just a fraction you can kill a <6 month site in no time. Older? be more creative . As always, the answers are all in the serps.

Hi guys, here's a type of shady links being created to my site over the past couple months. These seem to be script-generated pages that include the top results from Google. When my site was at the top, it was included in those links as well. I say it was because it has been deindexed a few days ago with a Pure spam manual action in the GWT.

When checked with the Sucuri checker, these pages show in red as infected with "SEO Spam".
These links were created in large numbers. They outnumbered the genuine links by some 3 to 1.

The question is, can these links cause a deindexation, or may they have been the cause for the manual review? Anyone seen this type of links before?

and there are a few other domains.
When I first saw these about a month ago, I thought it can't be that bad, these are edu links after all. Big LOL. I was lazy to check closer and possibly disavow.

First of all, thank you for your share ThopHayt!

Now I would like to tell you about my experience of negative SEO that has completely affected my website. I have never done negative SEO to anyone but I was/am (don't know yet) the target of a guy that managed to spam the shit out of my website which was #10 on a 1milion search/month keyword with lots and lots of polish/russian/chinese links (probably xrumer/gsa spam crap). In less than 2 weeks my site went from #10 to the big abyss of Google search (nowhere to be found). I have been scanning the website closely using Cognitive SEO, Ahrefs and Majestic for my backlinks and kept my disavow list up to date. Even that I have OVER 5000 domains in my disavow list I find that Google webmasters still have links that none of those backlink crawlers find (ahrefs, cognitive, majestic) which I do not know until today. After weeks of updating my disavow the website is now back bouncing at #45-60 (but at the same time having keywords at #20 which makes me think its still not penalized). Now, I am not sure what negative SEO I have received but the guy is completely mad (I even have/had (don't know if disavowing them deletes them) IP redirects from russia+china to my website).

What are your thoughts guys, on my experience?

I did the same test, but was trying to make it an obvious negative SEO attack. I used adult and gambling words and the position jumped from 10 all the way to number 1 where it has sat ever since. Maybe the new ranking method is using clear negative SEO keywords.
it will back to up to 10 after some time, once Google re-evaluated this links, but not less than 10

I can't speak to how the disavow works. In my test I did not use the disavow, nor did I continue to blast the spam after the 4th week. So your situation is a bit different. Also note that the page I used in my test had a great deal of authority (in order to simulate an authority site getting spammed). So also take that into consideration. The age, authority, and previous backlinks of your site may have an effect on how you recover and react.

So lets hear a bit more about your site. How old is it, what pages are these negative links going to (inner pages, homepage), what kind of anchor text is being used, and what kind of SEO have you been doing to this site previous to the attacks? Next, I noticed you said you only lost in a few keywords, this may be a good sign as well. How many did you lose in however?

Thank you for getting back with a reply ThopHayt.

The website is 6-8 months old, it has great links from very good websites (50+ TF, big PR, not exactly PBN, a mix of very good gov and edu links), the spammer used my main keyword to spam the website and all his links pointed directly to my homepage (which I was ranking on different keywords). I lost all the keyword rankings, the ones I am #20-30 at this moment used to be #1 (even in webmasters) and the main keyword that is #40-60 used to be #10-15. The thing is, the website was slowly but safely and steady rising the serps as I wanted without any spam to it so my rankings would last but then this guy started to spam the whole page 1+2 of google for that keyword... (as I've said my main keyword has over 1M+ searches/month, pretty competitive).

I hope I've answered your questions :)
