A beginners journey in affiliate marketingModest

Hi everyone I have been a lurker here for a while and I have spent a while reading posts and building myself up to actually try and see if I can make myself some money.

What is my goal? Modest at first, things have been a bit rough recently in my industry so a few hundred dollars a month to help with bills would be a good start.
Eventually I would like to make enough that I have no money worries at all, though I know this wont happen overnight.

What I have at at my disposal:

1. I have a twitter account with an adult theme with around 11.5k followers (I have tried to monetize this with crakrevenue but the conversion rate is low so far, earning $175 in around 3 months)
2. A affiliate site based around deals. this is built on wordpress but my skills aren't too good so it looks rough but I only intend to have something to try an teach myself some SEO.
3. A book on SEO.
4. BHW
5. A few dollars here and there to invest.

step 1.

I have ordered 3 Amazon niche sites from a member on here and by the time they are delivered I hope to have taught myself some basics on running a site using my practice site. If my practice site makes any money bonus!!

keep trying to grow my twitter audience as I may have plans for that later.

Please be patient as I know this journey is a bit basic but I wanted to start one to document my progress. Any words of wisdom or advice for someone starting out would be welcome! (this is not me asking for methods)

We all start this journey with noble beginnings OP. Nobody comes in on day 1 with the best money making plan or model ever devised, and we are all largely piggybacking off each other's great ideas, so believe in yourself and invest in your project with your time and money (as possible), and you can achieve anything you can envision and draw a roadmap to make happen.

Your plan is better than a lot of other plans I read in journeys that turned into successful endeavors for their creators, so I think you are on your way. Just be sure to stay invested in your own journey completely. It's your trip to take, your money to make, and your opportunity to learn the kinds of things you are capable of achieving - so do it.

thanks for the support, determined im going to see this through and hopefully learn a lot along the way. i have read a lot on this forum and i know there isnt any get rich quick schemes but with a bit of work and thinking outside the box it is possible to make a good income.

Update 26 September 2015

step 2.
Fiverosedude has delivered me 3 affiliate sites and they look good. time to start working on the SEO, this will probably take me a while as I'm learning as I go. (any tips on this would be appreciated.)

i have paid for 3x backlink gigs on fiverr, so far i have received 50 backlinks for each of the first 2 sites and awaiting delivery for the third.

Hoping now to start seeing some traffic, although probably not much.
