New to this all, but figured best way to keep to track is to keep a regular journal, as well as hopefully provide some extra motivation to succeed.

So plan at this stage is aiming for $100 a day with building a list in the make money online niche for a start, and have a couple of others I am slowly working on in the background for if this kicks off and goes well enough to warrant more investment.

To date I have setup the following:

Squeeze/landing page
Free downloads x 2 (main ebook, + smaller bonus)
Confirmation page
Download page
Autoresponder series
Aweber autoresponder

Details on page setup:
Squeeze/landing - simple blurb about what it is, and email optin form. No first name details at this stage, email address only, thinking the less to fill in the better for potential subs

Confirmation page - usual brief instructions, + affiliate product offer video below this

Download page - 2x "bonuses" at top of page, free ebook and another affiliate offer, and then main download to ebook below this. Both ebooks are 20+ pages of quality material, and also have a few affiliate links contained within them, not heaps, but two different affiliate programs are promoted within each book.

Everything is all setup, have tested it myself and all the signups work, so bit the bullet and have ordered two separate orders of 100 click solo ads, so can test it out and see how it goes. Aiming for around a %40+ opt in.

So at the moment, fingers crossed and lets see what happens. Should have initial results in the next 24-48 hours.

Going forward my plan is to make a authority niche/blog to accompany this to try build more natural traffic as well, instead of having to rely solo on paid traffic, but that is a while down the track to be honest and depends on how this goes!

Spend report so far:
100 click solo ad - $45
100 click solo ad - $40

Good luck with your Journey.
Keep us updated with results.

+1 URL bookmarked to Interest Folder :)

The two previous solo ads havent started yet so nothing to report. Can be a bit diffciult being in different time zones if a query comes through in middle of night my time and cant reply til next day. ANyway, both of those look sorted now and should be starting today.

Also purchased another solo, just testing it out, dirt cheap, so will be interesting to see how it performs against the others:

Purchase
$20 - 100 click solo

Total Spend to date: $105

interesting journey, subscribed, keep us updated and good luck :)

both ebooks which you are giving for free, written by you or are those plr?

Both are PLR, but to be honest the quality wasn't the best so I ended up rewriting a lot of it to get it up to standard. They were okay, but typically one sentence each paragraph would read in broken english/not quite flow correctly.

Just been doing some reading on other list building threads for tips and noticed a facebook posting tool which I may also try out to get some free traffic to the squeeze page. Will wait to see how these initial solo's go first though.

Also need to get a decent click tracking program I think so i can be sure myself which solo ads are converting and which are just wasted funds.

I'm also thinking I may look to start building my blog/niche site sooner rather than later so i can drive traffic with google ads etc and have email submissions forms on the site.
My current understanding is you cant send google ad traffic direct to a squeeze page.

First two solos are complete:

Combined Stats:
Clicks: 218
Opt Ins : 94
Opt in rate: 43.1%

So on the face of it pretty happy with that opt in rate, nothing horribly wrong it seems.

BUT

Of those 94 who have opted in with intial email, only 13 have clicked the confirm email and downloaded the books.
This has me stumped, at the moment. I would expect some not to bother confirming, but to have only 13.8% seems like something is wrong.
I have tested the opt in process, as have 4 other people I know and it works correctly so really not sure whats going on.

A couple of people signed up, downloaded books and unsubscribed which is to be expected, but the other 81 people who opted in and did nothing seems a bit fishy almost? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well have learnt a few things from initial testing, so will make some changes.

1- People don't like to double opt in. Have done some research and most people say not to worry about hassle of double optin so i should remove this.
2- If you start a list on Aweber that requires double optin, you cannot change it back to single optin.
3- My squeeze page is converting well it seems, hitting my target of %40+ opt in from the 300 clicks I have bought so far.

Changes-
1- single opt in
2- possibly remove thanks/confirmation page and direct straight to download. Ultimately all I am after for now is there email address, no more, no less
3- Build out a blog/homepage to try and build further trust with anyone who looks round for info about site

Am away on holiday for next week, but will be getting back to the grindstone next weekend. Still have positive outlook, and have learnt by trial and error which for me is always the best!

This is very interesting. Wondering how he will get subscribers using one of the ad networks. You are not allowed to advertise on Facebook, if you're making a list (I could be mistaken - someone clarify). The keywords in this niche are expensive. The cheapest one, I found on bing was 45cent (home job opportunities).

Premixer: How many subscribers are you aiming for to achieve $100 per day?
