Increasing webpage speed via hosting provider?

I'm running Wordpress using bluehost, shared hosting service. If I was to move onto cloud hosting or wordpress optimized hosting would this increase my webpage speed?

Yes... also, you can decrease load times using a CDN ... just google content delivery network. Also, take the suggestions from tools.pingdom.com and google developer and YSlow to help as well.

Combine your Javascript and CSS, gzip your files etc. There are wordpress plugins that will do most of this... something like wp super cache for example.

Also, if you have a specific market for your site, get a server in that market.

There are a lot of considerations in these regards. stratocentric has provided excellent direction above.

Personally I use cloudflare, and wp-super-cache on all my blog setups.

If your blog is not loading well it could be a bad host, but it could be a poorly configured installation, bogged down database, or a number of other factors. Don't just jump ship to a new host unless and until you are sure it's the host causing your speed problems rather than any of the myriad of other reasons a wordpress site might be slow.

Main things to increase speed are:

fast hosting provider
optimized images
caching
compression
lowering items on page

theres a few good plugins out there that will do most of it, then you just need a good host.

Try to check the server resources first along with your site optimization.
You can use cache plugins too along with page optimization.

It will also be a great option to have your site run on SSD drives. You've got SSD shared hosting, but I recommend switching to a VPS. The prices of shared hosting and VPS hosting are becoming very similar, so it's definitely worth a try.
