Personal my favorites for IG are Get Followers, InstaFollowers, and Crowdfire.

For IG it's Tweepi.

Also, is it worth buying twitter followers for the initial boost so you gain some "authority"?

ah shit my bad thought u was on about twitter followers. I don't know the prices for instagram followers mate. But honestly SEOClerk is a really good website for buying followers. + they will send you a message asking for your username

As for your second question - my strategy is simple. I do not buy followers coz its just bots which wouldn't give a trust to your profile. Try to manually find people related to you niche, reply to their tweets, engage them to reply you. Do not post links. Earn trust and retweet niche specific people.

Alternatively, you can also check in the marketplace. There are a few sellers who sell IG followers at a decent price.
