Ranking with content from web archive

There were some discussions on BHW before how to find old content from webarchive.

I would like to know if anybody ever tested if it is possible to actually rank with that content?

I plan to use it for my web20, Tier1 links. I dont fear too much about copyright. Worst case they will take down a few web2.0 but I consider that very unlikely.

I used waybackmachine and a few other archives when this method first came out.
It gave marginal results back then. I see no reason why a twist on it wouldn't work though. I'd just spin it first

I use old content from wayback machine sometimes for my PBN's without any problems but I'm not actually trying to rank them. But as long the old domain you using the content from is not indexed, google will see that content as unique.

So you think that the content is not seen as unique by google? There were a few guys claiming that google has the old content still indexed somewhere and therefore it is not unique. Would be very interesting to know if anybody has facts regarding this.

Works well for me, but as suggested check that your domain's content has not been published somewhere else. Often when a site expires, someone else from the same club/company/site will re-publish on a new domain.

I think that as long as you make some changes to it, you will be able to rank quite nicely.
