How to Avoid GoDaddy Stealing my Domain Name Ideas?

I've read stories like this, and then it happened to me. I ran a search on GoDaddy for "word1word2word3.com" and it was available for $3.00. So, I thought I'd think about it for a few days, in order to decide if I really felt like doing the project, and 4 days later it's not available. WhoIs shows "GoDaddy" as the owner and according to whatever site I looked at, it's been in "redemption" for 700+ days.

GoDaddy steals another domain name hoping to sell it to someone for a premium. Assholes. I hope Danica Patrick dies of anal cancer.

Anyways, I have another idea and I'm NOT going to GoDaddy to find out if it's available or not. What's an honest service to use so I won't have to worry about this one getting snatched up too?

Try to use whois first to see if your domain is available.. Then if you search it in godaddy if you are ready to purchase it.

I stop using godaddy when they stopped their coupon.. Go with namecheap with free whois protection.

I know a lot of people who have had massive trouble with GoDaddy...

Try out namecheap. It's been the best for me.

Completely agree. Also Go daddy has really bad email options if you are trying to run a business with more than a couple employees. At least that has been my experience.

GoDaddy are extremely cheeky and their ethics are questionable. As said above, i'd go with namecheap.

I used to search on Name.com and buy domains on Godaddy.

Like others have suggested, don't use Godaddy search until you are ready to buy the domain right away.
You can either use free whois or namecheap. Why give Godaddy even a chance to steal another domain.
